Nothing like coming back from a trip and have work waiting and you feel like you need a couple days rest.

Well, I finished installing the gas piping, pressure tested it, and then started on her stove.  First thing first I had to covert it to LP, what a pain.   But I got it running, so we have a happy wife, and that makes a happy life

then I went to check out the heater in the cabin, it wasn’t working. It was a Toyo oil mizer.   Ended up pulling it out, tearing it down and cleaning it and reinstalling it.

then I got off to pull the four of the 460.  At least I am ready to rebuild it

So tomorrow night is tear down and cleaning.

On another note, here is how you order fast food a lot of places now

Newark airport now has tablets at every table and that's how you order at every restaurant. Since the minimum wage went up they just replaced the minimum wage or entry level workers with iPads.

I don't know that I even have enough smarts to use one. Besides looks like you need credit card and I never use one cash only. If I pay cash then I guess I don't need it. LOL

The millennials or whatever they are called today probably think they are neat, cool additions to the restaurant all the while complaining that they don’t have a job. I don’t use them or the U scan registers.

Tore down the cylinder tonight.  Found this inside

C8D35B98-DD32-4FB6-AA96-0A26E267601A.thumb.jpeg.4d25825f6e478e99762ea1a69a9e3326.jpeg

the blade was frozen to the ground and the cylinder flexed, and the top section that has the bore lost a chunk. Wonder how many pieces ended up in the hydraulic system?  😬😩

well I still needed to get the driveway plowed out so I put it together and got a everything opened up.   I will look at parts options this week.   On another note I was so impressed with the discussion regarding ultra sonic cleaners that I ordered one, and got to use it on this

most of the parts fit in it and it really cleaned things up.  I was very impressed with the results

15 below for a high this weekend if they guessed right.

Let me guess.... a island....not in the Aleutian chain was the trip. 😁

Yeah the screens here too.  Min wage will be 14 next year.  And the online ordering for fast food too...wow talk about you must need a burger now! When we went to Disney the McD near had only them.  Me and buddy walk down for coffee each morning.  1 gal to help and or take cash and 10 screens.  Frankly i get the germ part...but i am so tired of idiots punching a keypad.  I may as well do it my self.  Sad deal is the sit down restaurants with them got to be hurting workers (like always happens with min wage increase) b/c no one i know tips when you ordered and all some person did was drop your food by with a grumble.  Bat locally, you go to counter, you tap pad for what beer you want (all the sell, food is next door), special skinny jean "guy" sees his screen 1' away, pours beer and hands to you.  Then right there in front of you..."tip amt?" Is on screen!  You self bust table even and you have the gal to ask for a tip?  Heres one....WE never went a 2nd time!  New one just opened and you have to pour and bust table.....buddy tried it...same.thing a tip line for 1 guy on his phone watching you work for your $5 beer 🙄😯

Why yes, It was in the pacific, a bit warmer then the Aleutians tho, and a very left leaning government 😏

for years i have only used tellers, not the self check out.  I have left carts full of merchandise and walked out.  Now they want more money, and they are losing jobs

We went the other way on New Years. We were -28F and a day  later we were up to 40F. Thawed all night actually. Light snow now and middle of the road temps so things are a little more comfortable and stable for the moment.

We it warmed up, -16 this morning.  And looking like we will hover under zero for a while.  Not bad, but we have lows in the 30’s and 40’s this week, and all the issues that come with that.  Big chains have been getting into the gas station market here, thier pumps quit

Worked on a clean up project this weekend, a mess of a hot water system, cleaned it up a bit and re-piped it

not perfect, but there were 4 or 5 leaks and the hot water recirculating system was not working.

Reminds me of when I first moved into the original homestead 35 years ago. Took out 40 feet of galvanized and black pipe and replaced it with 10 feet of copper.

That's why they pay ya the big bucks lol. Definitley a bit chilly to be outside that's for sure. Hopefully there's no wind. I was gona say find a sunny spot and soak up the sun but that's a little hard to do this time of the year I guess lol. Getting much daylight yet? Starting to stretch out a little here but not enough to be a huge bonus yet. Another couple weeks and it'll start to show up a little more.

I'll take -40 over 0F with 100% humidity and wind any day though. If the suns nice and bright it doesn't seem as bad.

Worked hard this weekend. And didn’t take many pictures. A friend lives in Valdez where it is not unheard of to see 400 inches of snow.  Snow removal is a big deal and he asked for help fabricating a snow push. His design

the steel and getting started

Many hours later

It’s not welded out, he will finishing welding it and add the side plates, but it is fitted up.

then I headed home

yeah, poor weather.  But some of the places I had seen at 40 below on Friday were now mid thirties above less than 48 hours later.  I am not home and made it home for diner
