sugarmaker 54 Posted October 4, 2018 Kevin, Well I found you and the T-all! Just amazing work! Took me half a day to read each post, and get caught up. You have some detailing to do, but sure have done a lot to make this truck look good! I think your body work is top notch! Paint looks VERY good! Thanks for taking the time to post all the pictures too. I will be checking on your progress. Regards, Chris
Kevingweq 56 Posted October 9, 2018 Thank you everyone for all the kind words and inspiration 😀 Decided that the hood needed some insulation , IH installed some when they built it , So gosh darn it I will try to at least equal if not improve on it !! Bought a sheet of 1" thick hood pad insulation , if I was doing it again 5/8-3/4" would of been fine , really had to do some finangling to install it in one piece , Here is what was on there from the factory Here is what the new stuff looks like and here it is squeezed and massaged into place There is a series of springs that hold it in place ,, kinda hard to see those flat black "tin looking " pieces are actually spring loaded when bolted into place , then some round stock springs hold the pad so tight I did not think any glue was needed , perhaps if the edges sag I will change my mind 🙄
Kevingweq 56 Posted October 13, 2018 I had rescued this parking brake cover from Krusty the 68 parts Travelall a few years back , has a fancy little light that notifies you to release the parking brake before you burn up your brake shoes I clean up the switch and harness and plug it in and light comes on -- press button light goes out Yay !! Wait a sec ...... did it just blink ? ? yes it did ! Must have it connected to the wrong wires (blinker circuit) Funny no flasher noise like the turn signals/ 4 ways make. Maybe there is a flasher somewhere hidden under dash? Start checking things out , spend an hour with flashlight in my teeth ,feet out the window and my head in places where it was not meant to be, checked grounds it still blinks WAT DAH !! Then it dawns on me , DOH the blinky is built into the bulb ! ! Here is a picture of the cover installed and a short video of it blinking Learn something new every day
jingles1928 258 Posted October 13, 2018 Never realized the blinky was built into the bulb. Does the 2 on the bulb identify it as a blinky? Have never had a need for a blinker in a 57 size, are they still available? Dennis
chip man 17 Posted October 13, 2018 Quick google search says they are in stock at Bulb Town @ $.57 each.

I never ran across blinky bulbs in an automotive application , I had seen them many moons ago in the warning lights that bolted to the top of a sawhorse like the town departments used . Never thought of them for any other use but now I can think of a few other applications they might be useful in 😀

But it seems I may have to get rid of most of my IH collection

Tonyinca 787 Posted October 19, 2018 Just read this whole thread . Kevin my hat off to you ! Your expertise ,patience , perseverance ! I restored a 1966 I.H. 1000A P.U. but needed professional help and it took three years to finish and now its back in for power steering ,these old Binders were not made to be lowered and run wide tires .lol. In My Case. I am getting ready to do a 66 1200 flat bed ,factory propane 304 , have the build sheet. Was our local blacksmiths truck, I have known it since new. Thought about doing myself but at 72 yrs of age I am going to cop out to the professional again. I am not as talented as you couple that with being old, there you go get help . lol. lol. I am finding a interest in I.H. trucks increasing and am finding that aftermarket companies are starting to manufacture a part here and there. Car show people are going crazy for well done I.H.'s because there are very few. Congratulations on your work and best to you as you move forward . It will reward you many times over in pride and satisfaction ,I am sure. Tony
