Was some of the best sandy loam grd in our country. See the dead grass? Never seen that till laate Aug before.. Apparently the high temps are causing a fast snow melt. River went up a bit last few days.

Interesting grass there Troy, quite the contrast to the green corn.

we see high water from Glacier and snow melt during high temperatures

Ugh....new guy forgot to open tank valve. Dumped $5000 down the drain last night. Good kid too. Getting alarm system installed Monday on reciever vat to scream if he does it again. Not worth hollering. Too late. I never walk by the milk house when checking cows at night. May have to change my routine.

i have an idiot switch in my milking system. when we built the parlor, i told the installer that i didn't need one. until one morning when the idiot (me) ran the water from the first rinse into the tank. its just a little switch that won't let the milker pump start if the pipe is still in the wash position, and won't let the wash cycle start if the pipe is still in the tank.

Troy are you going to get anything out of the moisture moving up the coast right now?

Yeah....significant humidity. Muggggggy today. Smacking the berry guys hard. Muggy makes berries squishy. Not good for processing! Already a light crop b/c of heat. Blue Berry crop is record b/c of great pollination weather. They announced a 15 cent pay cut already. Just starting to pick them, a honest month early.

On the rt is the homes. Here is commercial property that to lf borders the high way. This farm....all 8 acres left was a several 100 acre IH farm. They farmed all the N side of our town. Veggies and forages. Before the processing guys left the area. There was carrots, peas, swweet corn, beans, and hops locally 50 years ago.

We have added to the routine that every hour someone walks in the milk house and writes down the milk temperature on a clipboard. Can cover a few bases doing something like that

Good idea

100s forcast for next week. Tribe is making move to stop all direct pumpers next week. Not a ton of guys but such BS. I hear if some other smaller citied letting farmers use their extra water rights to irrigate. Feels like the community is building up against tribes. They finally are pushing too hard. Lets pray for rain and maybe a good judge.

Troy, Our agreement with Anacortes was pump 20 CFS from 10 PM to 7AM which was as good as we could get short of uninterrupted water supply out of the river, Then the tribes got involved and it changed to pump 2 times a day for 3 hours before and 3 hours after each high tide which was ok not as good as plan A so all the paper was getting shuffled through the DOE last Thursday/ Friday, Late friday the tribes changed their first agreement to pump 2 hours before and after each high tide with 15cfs, Now I know first hand what the term ''Indian giver'' means. This isn't the tribes water to start with so next is a meeting with the mayor on Monday to figure out what happened since the city council as will as herself supported the first and second plan 100%

Wth? Its not their right to deeded water like the cities. Somebody needs to call the Mayor to her deal. If Anacortes would pump that allocation on the ground the tribe could not say peep. I think if ag can get the story out that most Skagit and Whatcom people would help us tell the tribes to shove it. I feel like the last 5 years that the tribes have overplayed their "poor us" card. I hope so.

Lol Art! Must of bee a ...stein something engineered that part

Brad, I would completely agree about managing the dam flows. They are so corrupt and dishonest it's shocking. The Lummi tribe is as bad. Fish is a micro $ part of the res but the world has to revolve around that. The elders roll in caddys and more than once in the last few years a child dies of malnutrition on the res and a teen overdoses. I dont condone running down the leaders but. They are a completely un-negotiable group. The deal has to be all about them. There is talk of putting together 1-2 million and offering it to the tribe to shut up for 10 years about fish/shellfish here. We know they will take it, but will they honor the agreement? Nothing is more disgusting than hearing idiots saying how much 'honor' indians have for x or y. I have yet to see any respect of land, water, or humanity from our local bands.

Troy, The worst part of the tribe is they don't practice what they preach. They expect everyone else to follow laws of the land except themselves.

Tribal members have been sent to prison for only 9 months for stealing millions of tax money from the feds heck I would take that deal.

Honestly I don't don't know what I or others did wrong to these people in the last 100 years.

This isn't about good or bad people, there are bad apples in every barrel. Look at our own politicians, they're no better, if not worse.

This is about power, control, and money. If the tribes can exert control of water everywhere, surface and underground, then there is no limit to what they can do.

Look what is going on in rural Skagit County.

Imagine now in a few years having to pay a "royalty" to the tribes for the water you pump out of your own well. The potential revenue will dwarf gambling.

Given the fact that every tribal member feels justified in hateing white people for stealing their land, they have no problem with strangling our economy or taking our money.

Even if they have 1/16 indian blood.

And white people are giving the tribes the tools to do it. Casinos are awash in white money. They pay off our politicians with it. They buy lawyers with it. We voted to give the tribal casinos exclusive rights to slot machines. And we allow our public schools to brainwash our kids with the environmental save the salmon crap. We got nobody to blame but ourselves.

Good points, I'm blaming the Feds for most of this since they where the ones to change Tribal gaming laws, I don't recall to many problems until that happened. The Swinhomish have plenty of white blood in their veins due to the Monks family :D .

My way to fix this problem is to legalize casino's for anyone who has the money to build them, then possible they would end up broke like the one's in Troy's county.

Guy who hauls hay for us lives in the area so I stopped by and visited him. 90 degrees at 9 pm. He got these treats at a sale recently. The 10 is really quite clean. Same dealer sticker as my 186 from the same area. Cab needs a kit, wont get one, non A/C cab, insane over there. His 3 pt wont lower much, the draft lever is seized so I recommended he get it freed up since it is stuck like 2/3 of the way down. If I tell him to tear into it it will never get reassembled again!!!

Man God wont budge. You guys getting wetter and we are getting drier. Hear 2 dairies right across the line burnt in the last 2 days. Dry related I guess. One was Cedar Wal, a fancy reg breeder. Not sure of any details. Forecast is for high 90 all weekend. We gave up on 1 23ac piece. Could not get it wet soon enough. Nothing to mow. Uncle said he is going to irrigate his new seeding and corn from now on after 3rd was cut. 4 reels and he is just keeping it green. Wants to save new grass and get alot of corn silage since we will be short on grass. Friends in 806Mans county have permit to pump for 3 hrs a day from canal. They farm 1600 acres......think thats worth it? They figure 1 100 ac corn field will be a loss since they cant reach it with water. We will keep trying. Abandoning that one and are gonna hit every corn field in next few days. Heavier grd so if it gets a good shot it should be ok for 2 weeks. "He gives and takes away," Job. Last year was record yields now......guys are following the mowers with the chopper. Grass is so dry on stem b/c of wind it dont need to lay.

Irrigating is a round the clock chore especially during dry times. Luckily where I live its pump however much water your well can put out.
