Set like this is luke $10 more than parts......nuts Cool n dry all the sudden...better make some storage room Friends 544j....probbhas 20k hrs on it. TroyDairy
So odd dry..and cool..the manure cop rec we start pumping manure. Normally we are all getting moving. About 6 weeks to 1st cutting normally so want to feed grass. This year...crap who knows? Instead of just hauling to uncles lagoon we're spreading. Big set backs and extra sense. We dont have spreader so Marv came with his 2 units. 7300 Nuhn and Houle....they Love the Nuhn vs Houle. Yes....we got 1/2" of snow on march 6. Pretty rare. Finally took covers off out side feed lane..was on for 5 weeks. Longest ever. High 40s predicted next week. Hope for some rain...it equals snow in mtns and they are off from 60 to 100" vs last season. Do operators need this many safety tips? We put 1000' 6" line at uncles. Got cost share...will save us a ton of time and hassle irrigating and pumping across creek we now will bore under. Brothers got it all with rental Kobelco 80 machine. I kept busy here. Cost share pays your hr work so if you do work it basically is free! They fret when we lay manure hose on bridge to field so we got priority for our project...silly but...helps us a bunch. Cool barn neighbors pulling down..?

I have not heard from the crew he went up that much but he has they say. Friend was supposed to sit there for 48 hrs to baby sit the first 2 days. At hr 30 he said bag it and came home. IN 30 Hr he 'pushed' 1 cow. They took to it like nothing. Best start they have seen. The cows got grain for 10 days+ to get used to it and it worked.

After the first month or so things get nice. If I was milking, would definitely go that way to save labor.
Finney
Troy, Around here the dairy guys don't has tanks/spreaders nowhere that big and they tear up tractors and spreaders all the time. From hitches/rear end housing on the tractors to hitches on the tank/spreaders. How do you guys handle tanks/spreaders that big? A couple of them are trying to find the older Stigers with the pan hitches to pull their tanks/spreaders which I think would solve a lot of the problems. I dont know Finney. 7300g on a mfd is normal custom (few dairymen) setup. The JD on Houle is a 8130 with 10ks of hrs. Never heard him say rears get broke. The JCB is ok till 5k he says then gremlins show up. But he'll keep them till 10k. One has 9430/9450R (whatevers) jds on 9000g spreaders. Big load but slow going up rd at all. He always says he trains his guys that brakes are cheap trans aint. Use brakes not gears to stop then. Other hauler is opposite and i know has ruined some R series JD trans b/c of agessive down shifting.
ChrisNY
Happy 200 pages Troy! 5500 is about it on MFWDs around here. Occasionally see a 7300 but usually behind an articulate. Very little roading of loaded spreaders here, it is hard on everything. Nurse the tanks with trucks for most part. Try to truck spread as much as possible. We have not used a spreader in 11 months. Truck spread everything
Gearclash
A horse for every course. Common to run 7300s behind MFDs here, tractors as small as 7140s. Some guys are running 9500s on something like a Magnum 305, also a few guys running 10500s behind big Massey MFDs. Also common to road a fair bit with tractor and tank. Some flat, some rolling ground here.

We had two 6300 tanks and only have a 4500 now as we traded the triaxle tanks for the drag hose. The 6300 pull as easily as the 4500 does because the steering on the triaxle makes it easier. The tandem is without steering and will push you around sooner . We have not broken any hitches on the tractors. Pulled by Magnums 7240-8950 size. Here is a picture of the hitch stiffener we add . The drawbar is slid out to drain the transmission. Essentially it just about tripples the drawbar at the support area

Yes locking tab cracked off, finished the season this way. We have an extremely heavy 3 PT 30' homemade disk mower that we back through the field with. It's hard on the three point. Have a front 3 PT with a 4600 lb weight and 16.9-30 with beet juice to try to keep it down up front
TroyDairy
Dang DD and FL..could've thought oil filter placement out a little better... This is my 2 year ago auction buy. Figured we should give her a once over. Actually seems quite good for old silage truck. Did this most of day. Moving from main dairy to uncle old farm lagoon. Ol gal is LONG and bit tight backing into alley we dump into but getting it done. Brothers got the free to us Houle load set up all going Tuesday and seems good so far. Pump needed seals and all but 2m flat for 8300g just off idle. Prices...improvement showing. We got refi done but that aint years worth for sure. Manure guy who tanked last week said Be thankful you could b/c i have guys who did over a year ago and cant.....and now have 0 options left to pay. See heifer # dropping quick and slaughter is way up for dairy cows. Local small guy..50 60...suddenly passed away friday. Wife has sever MS and he quit his part time to help her. Now dont know whats gonna happen. Sold cows at sale barn yesterday. Couldnt of been pretty deal. Few guys say they are for sale officially now. No kids following and tired. Totally get it. Gearclash
Ha! I’ve replaced a Magnum coolant recovery tank for the same reason. I think I put a smaller OD washer on the bolts to try to prevent a repeat.
bitty
We mounted ours up where the coolant recovery bottle is on her 8950 that way it sucks it back to the tank a little easier. We had made a little bit of a bracket and a little bit of custom exhaust and have a newer style Muffler just like the 89s on our 7140 which opened up the hood area
TroyDairy
She wanted to make a chime thing for Music class. I said I'll cut you grind. We drilled holes in old utensils and hung from coat hanger. She ground burs and bonker stick (1/2" x 8" sucker rod) down nice. Youth Fair. 700 kids signed up from everything from showing cats (i know) to milk cows. Basically if 4H offers it they do. Only 14 and younger last 2 days of spring break. Great program. Gets alot of town kids off their butts. Learn showing our crafty stuff or even lawn mower pulling. Good time! Nice morning.... Spring break....if the have friends over they have to need a bath when going home is my rule!
TroyDairy
Anyone watch any Welker farms vids on youtube? Watched a few lately. Kinda neat guys...no drama just work. "Inspired" me to get some shop work done actually. Pic not in order.... 60xt said it had no oil psi! Put guage on...50psi...whew. Mech says prob sender. Be here friday.....? New for me....trying to get F-liner clutch brake to work. Improved a little....but turn buckle is near maxed. Also flex from engine to under cab was broken. So cut out and replaced it as well. For 6500 sure has been decent truck. Drives nice, the S60 is great on fuel, 10sp is nice to use, tires all 75%, seat could use new bottom....bolster is flat. Sticker says 375hp but sure feels stronger on that 8500 gallon tank. Seen these guys Saturday afternoon......name with held for liability.... He was put putting along with "pilot" pick up. Sunday was nice last week. Took the Nova for a spin. He adj the valves...HUGE improvement. Finishing up original new 750 carb that is new but icky and 20 years old. Was fun little run with 1 of girls! Need to get Lic and insurance
