axial_al
Does anyone know of any way to improve the turning radaii of a 560 with the factory wide front? I remember seeing some with after market steering arms with a bend in them. Is there any other way to make them turn shorter? Thanks.
GaryhMN
Yes I did it once on a 400 we had . I saw a 560 last year that had it The spindle arms are heated and bent out about past out side spindle . A plate is made in the center . I am not sure of the exact measurements . The plate was 12in long and at least 3in back from where tie rod were. I need to do this to an MTA and know where the 400 is that I fixed. I looked at a kit at that time at a dealer. I think it was called Nelson shortturn. It turned very close to the Swartz we have.
George 2
Solution is simple. I think IH had a service bulletin on this at one time. All you do is buy a set of 656, 706 etc, steering arms, take the old ones off and install the new ones on the spindles. Then adjust the track rods to make it properly aligned when going straight ahead. I once had a Farmall 460 that had this done and it steered just like a Farmall 656. 1256turbo
try 656 steering arm, different lenght should help a little, the kit with bent arm came with wider center steering lower bolster bracket to keep tie rod same length.
