Rebuilding 1466 Front End

Recommended Posts

I started the project yesterday of rebuilding the front end of my 1466. I'm putting new bushings in the spindles along with felt seals and bearings which really tightened them up. The next problem is it appears the rear axel pivot ball is really loose. The whole axle wobbles really badly.

I haven't torn it apart yet since I ran out of time. What part usually wears out? Is it the pivot ball or the cast socket that holds it or both? I’m trying to get an idea so I can order parts ahead of time. I want to do it right but don't want to just waste money. I assume there are bushings in the front main pin that could be replaced also?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I bought both on mine. The ball was worn badly and in return wore out the cap as well. Just watch the shims on that cap
