I remember seeing that video Loadstar. I like the styling of that Ford 6000. Good thing that you got both tractors running.

Speaking of the Massey 444 here is an ad from 1956 showing the triple 3, triple 4, and triple 5 tractors. Would you bet that there was no 666 because Massey thought someone else could have the “devils tractor”  like IH maybe haha

Thats a nice Massey ad I've never seen. I was curious if they made a 222 but it looks like they went to the Model 50 instead as the next step down from a 333. Notice in this ad from 1956 they already have the name Massey Harris Ferguson at the bottom of the page. In a few more years Harris disappeared.

Here is just a Ferguson tractor ad from 1956 about the Hi-40. This tractor has the spin out wheel rims I think the spin out rims give these older tractors more eye appealing looks. Jmo

Looks like this Massey model 50 has the same type wheels on it.

I have that same Farmhand advertising. I think it is from 1971 or 72. Here is another page from it featuring an IH tractor running a Farmhand silage blower.

That Massey Harris ad could have been right here in Saskatchewan except for the plough. I don't think there were many, if any, still in use by 1955. More likely this one way disk tiller. This one from 1953 has the seeding attachment. Most of them did here.

Ralph---

The ad talks about the "chilled washers" taking the brunt of the thrust load (with an exploded view of the set-up pictured).

Question:   were most of your one-way diskers set up with cast (grey iron) bearings??

Following up on some discussion we had on the diskers--------I believe they were much lighter construction than I had thought.

Anson, in all honesty I can't remember if I have seen the inside of a disker bearing. Kind of says how good of luck I have had I guess. The one way diskers seem to fare better in rock country than the tandems. My uncle worked with one way diskers all his life and he broke his share of blades on his last Massey 360 one way. I think the John Deere blades were a little stronger. When he got a Cockshutt tandem disk he had a lot of trouble with bearings and shafts loosening up. The IH tandem disk that followed was a little better but still had bearing problems. The one way diskers have more flexibility than a tandem which probably helps blade life here in rock country.

This 360 Massey ad from about 1980 is the model that I have. Just a single 15 foot but they could be hooked up in double or triple sets to cut near 50 feet at a pass.

I wonder how popular David Browns were in the U.S. before Case got ahold of them.

I would see the David Brown tractor ads in the Country Guide magazine in the late 1960s but never saw an actual tractor until Case started selling them as part of their line in 1974. Of course we didn't have any David Brown dealers around until that time either. This ad is from 1977.

Before we get too far off from vehicles of the mid 50’s here are two Chevy ads the first from 1955 the second from 1956. Personally I kinda like the styling of the ‘56 models

I like those "task force" vintage Chev and GMC trucks too. I have another ad from 1956 featuring GMC from pickups to tractor units. This pic from the Montgomery dam project in Colorado. Check out the chrome grille on the pickup. Quality is not great as the big two page ad was way too big for my scanner.
