What is the make is the engine? A Wisconsin? The Australian built 55 Series (GL-55) used an air cooled V4 Wisconsin auxiliary motor.

Engine drive on balers was popular when tractors did not all have live pto as standard equipment. Looks like Case went with the V4 Wisconsin back in 1949.

Yes I do, still have a fond place in my heart for baling, I must be crazy, lol.  Still remember being at my grandfather's place, watching him set the hooks into, I think it was 4 bales at a time, to be pulled up to the peak of the barn, then slid into the loft on the rail.  Later in life, I was the one in the loft catching them, lol. What year is the brochure from? Appears to be a Continental engine pre 1950s when the IH engines were used

Also note the 52 tractor trailer behind the baler. There was only one 55 T baler (that I know of) in the area I grew up in and I saw it once at the dealer's in 1955.

My maternal grandfather had the same unit with the Super A engine. I can't remember if it was a 55T (twine) or 55W (wire) baler. Grandpa had a W-4 tractor which was smaller than the W-6 but did the job well. It was used for baling lucerne hay mainly.

I have seen this image somewhere else, Wisconsin Historical Images perhaps.  The soldier's uniform appears more British (Canadian?) than US. The corporal's stripes point downwards (British Commonweaith style) and he is wearing a "tin hat" style helmet.

Gee, that looks like a skeleton of a baler.

Yes the old Case baler from 1949 was pretty open and easy to service from the looks of it. I don't think they sold many around here. This is another ad of a slightly newer Case from 1951.
