Blacktop tractor pulling videos

There is discussion from time to time regarding pulling on blacktop instead of dirt, and not surprisingly many have never heard of such a thing. Well way back on May 16th, I took the 460 out to give it a try myself for the first time, and my (now) fiancee brought the video camera. Well, problems here and a botched disc there, combined with a busy summer for us, means I just now finally got it on youtube for the whole world to see. Check it out if you like!

5500 complete open class- rules were 2750 rpms, or 3000 with steel flywheel, and I think 6mph limit

My 460 in the 6500 open, same rules, and 7500 farm- 2750 rpms, no turbo

A couple more, the Oliver and JD were turbo'd, so ran 7500 open, the M was in 6500 open.

The 8500 farm class had a 5 mph speed limit, radar enforced.

Now for some bigger classes. Not sure what weights they are, but maybe Mark can help on that, his brother pulls the 1256 with IH in the grill.

You need to turn your tires around like the others then drop a 301 motor in the 460.

Already got the 301.... That is why I beat the 560 in the 7500 class. Nobody had there tires turned backwards; not sure but I think that was made a rule several years ago because of the advantage it gave them.

Sorry I thought I saw some tires on backwards. What gear did you pull in? Man that sure is a long chain in the heavy big tractor class.

I pulled in 3rd in the 5500 class, but when I pulled the TA it got to bucking and I shut it down. I pulled in 2nd in 6500 and 7500, and decided not to pull the TA and just let it fall to it's knees. Not sure if the TA would have gained me anything, but at least I had a smooth finish.

Thanks for posting. For someone not familiar with blacktop pulls, it's surprising to see how the traction is lost suddenly. So I'm wondering if those spots on the blacktop get slick from melted rubber?

Yes they do. If you didn't notice just about everybody stayed to the side of the track. The day before they had a Antique pull and it made the track really slick in the middle. Not to mention this road had been sealcoated a while ago and it brought all the oil up the surface once the sled started sliding on it and made it warm. The pull the other night wasn't like that cause it was pure blacktop and the sled had wood on the pan not rubber like this one. But you basically stop the same way(all of a sudden)

Didn't get the Leyland doing the wheelstand. Molly didn't know that was the start of my class. Sure would have been nice to see it happen on tape though, was too quick in real time- by the time I realized what happened, he was picking up the pieces.
