MV- W9 Front Weights

The W-4 wheel has a cast center section with five holes.

The weights we've got on ours have only three mounting bolts, but in a five-bolt pattern to match up with that center. The three bolts to the center go in the three holes with the dished out area around them.

If you double-weight them, the second set is hung off the first with two bolts through the other two holes. The 2nd weights will mount backwards compared to the first...the flat spot to the inside and facing up against the 1st set of weights which have the flat side facing out.

It's awful dark in the barn and ours is packed in tight so I don't have any pics but this link shows the style we've got mounted up. http://www.flickr.co...abe/4423062703/

The 5th tractor down this page shows the W-4 center minus the weights. http://www.n4gls.com/tractors.cfm

I haven't seen a W-6 with weights on in a few years, but the 6 has a different (8-spoke) center section than the 4 and they have a 4-bolt weight bolt pattern. Same bolt-pattern as the W-9 if I remember right.

From the parts book for a W4. 8076D is the first weight on the wheel, subsequent weights are #8077D. 8076D weighs 126 lbs. and requires 3 -3/4x 5&1/2 bolts. 8077d weighs 137 lbs. and requires 2-3/4x3&1/2 cap screws. The book insinuates a maximum of 3 weights per side.

8077D also fits the 9 series on 26 inch tires with cast iron wheels. My SPICE manual says 8076D and 8077D fit the 6 series but my 6 parts manual does not agree. My experience would say go with the parts manual.

Hey, that's some info I can use in the future too. Thanks for the part numbers on the second set of weights!

We've got two sets of weights for our W-4. Both sets are 8076-D (I found the number on the mounted set after I grabbed a bigger flashlight).

One set mounted and one set that's been in the shop since I've been a kid so I've never seen them double mounted but it was always told to me that the second set was for that tractor from when grandpa bought it. The second set might've been auction sale pickups though too...

This is a future project, but I haven't scrounged up any manuals for it yet.

Don't know what the W-4 weights would be worth , should be worth at least scrap price , as for weights for H,s and or M,s I paided 25 dollars a piece and I bought everyone the man had ( 3 sets) at that price . I 'd take them off your hands but I think the shipping would cost more than the weights would be worth. Do you have any front wheel weights for a W-4 ? That is really what I'am looking for...............apps
