IH 605 v8

Recommended Posts

I am trying to find some info on the 4.625" pistons used in the 605 v8's. I believe there was a 5xx ci v8 with the same pistons also?? I would like to have some dimensions (compression ht, pin dia, number of rings, distance from top of piston to first ring, are they flat tops?) and maybe a picture of a piston. I'm trying to find pistons for a pulling project. Thanks for the help

Are you thinking of the V549 Gas engine? If memory serves me right the 534 Ford gas engine used the same piston rings..not sure if the pistons were the same. I'd have to do some research on that one. Send me a pm and I'll see what I can do.

compression distance-2.31"

wrist pin-1.31

approximately .5" from the surface to the top ring and .200 dome

3 rings

The other motor is a 537. It also has a 4.625" bore with with a 4" stroke instead of the 605 4.5" stroke.

If you have any more questions call 308-262-0740.

I might have a set of used pistons here from a 605, For sure can help with a complete engine. Supposed to have been a runner when pulled. Got the plate and flywheel to mate it to the IH big frame tractors as well

pm if interested in used
