can i convert my 221 into a 291? i know i need to change the crank and pistons and sleeves, will the 221 block accept the 291 sleeves or do i have to bore the block? will the 221 head work with 291 pistons? are the rods the same? would i use a piston and sleeve kit for a 756?

I the the 291 sleeves will fit into the 221 block, not sure about the head though, I know that a c-291 head will not work with 221 pistons. tried it myself, the valves would hit the pistons. You might be okay the other way around.

does the 221 block have to be bored to accept the 291 sleeves?

The c291 head will work just fine IF you have the later stlye or contour pistons like in a 606 or 3616 in it IT WILL NOT work if you have the step head pistons found in a 460 C221 I have a 606 Which is living proof. also to use C291 pistons you need a C263-C301 crankshaft.
