Old Binder Guy
A Paw and Mike selfie from about a month ago in his shop. This 56 year old Montana National Guardsman was just shipped out for 15 days of forest fire duty. I was with him yesterday as he was packing necesseties for this venture. He told us not to worry much, because the NG personnel more or less replace fire fighters to go do more serious fire fighting while the NG guys do the mop up. He is in our prayers and I know he'd appreciate yours as well. A year from now he retires (as a Lieutenant Colonel) with 40 years of service in the US Army and the MTARNG. Mike was "non retained" as a LTC by Barry O., with his military cuts. The next day, Mike "re-upped" as a Sargeant, which was his rank when he got out of the US Army. A Deering and De Laval cream separator dealership in Ramona, South Dakota, a few years back. Tubacase47 would likely appreciate this photo of a J.I. Case dealership, a few years back too. I took this photo of Mike's IHC Primrose cream separator a few days ago. It sets near their deck slider door. The reason for the binoculars. The elk herd comes in nearly every night for a meal of drought cured barley. We were recently discussing motor homes. Here is a nice Model T Ford Roadster adaptation! I stole this Fordson with extension rims (dual wheels) from the North Dakota Facebook site. It's interesting seeing them grade streets of dirt, before they were ever paved. An 8-16 Avery gas tractor (their smallest) in Limerick, Ireland plowing. An 8-16 Avery gas tractor somewhere in the western half of the USA during the dirty thirties. A 22 hp "Montana Special" undermounted Avery steam engine is threshing near Bozeman, Montana. From Roger's part of the country, is this 35 hp double cylinder Minneapolis steam engine pulling a combined harvester in a grainfield. Everyone seems to love the 110 hp Case engines. This is the earlier 32 hp Case that became the 110 hp. The cab was an extra cost option, and many were sold without the factory cab. A Facebook friend, Adam Holmes, owns this cute little TD6 IH crawler. It had the same engine as the WD6 Standard and the Farmall MD. Anson, I have a bone to pick with you, my friend. I had dibs on Roger's 1912 IHC AutoWagon before the invention of colored photos. So you just settle down, go to the hoe house, get your favorite hoe, and hoe your watermelons. I'll take care of the hauling with the IHC AutoWagon. OKAY??!!! Last but not least, four IH Tractors on a Montana Farm! Gary😁

Old Binder Guy
twostepn2001 It took me nearly an hour and a half to post my last post. I lost about 6 or 7 photos that I had to reload. It's slower than molasses in January, but I can't quit this. Who would give Anson a bad time, if I were to disappear? Gary🤪 5
Sledgehammer
Glad you are back Gary. Hopefully things smooth out some. Too many other reasons to be gloomy in today’s world. This doesn’t need to add to it. 4
Delta Dirt
Professor--- Lots of confusion in your above post referring to Mike and his rank. But I do remember you explaining some of that before. So should I refer to Mike as "Kid" Colonel, Sarge, or Farmall Kid??? Sure am glad he had his utilities on in the picture-------or I would have been really confused as to who wuz who. (you put your stamp right on his face!!!!!!)😊 ******* Furthermore-------"had dibs" is a past tense phrase. "My" is as of now (current)!!!! I really appreciate Roger taking care of it for me. ******** "Hoe house" and git your favorite "hoe" can be very confusing in itself. Did you mean "favorite ho"-------------or hoe (as if for chopping)???? Either one doesn't seem to fit my needs anymore!!!!!!!!!!! 🤐😏🤣🐴 Good luck to Mike and his troops on the fire detail. DD Hoe is as if for chopping weeds, Anson. I should have known you'd gravitate to the other end of that spectrum? I know Marines and Navy landed in ports and they weren't intent on chopping weeds, but were looking for the hoe house. Actually, I have a couple of old hand pushed garden cultivators. If I sent you one, it may keep you away from the hoe house? When you deliver the watermelons in the 1912 IHC AutoWagon, you can take it with you, put it in the bagage compartment of the airliner, when you fly back to Mississippi!
Delta Dirt
Professor------ Be best for you to keep all of those hoes, shovels, rakes, handtools, etc resting and cool up there in Montana. Temp was 101° here this afternoon with extremely high humidity. Heat index musta been in excess of 115. Too hot to breathe. DD 4
Delta Dirt
Just ran across this old black (congregation) church located in Estill, Mississippi-----note the window A/C and chimney sitting side by side. I don't know how old it is-----I am 78 and it seems to have looked the same for my lifetime. I snapped this picture several years ago------was still active as of that time. Many photographers have photographed this church through the years-------it is definitely an old Mississippi Delta landmark. DD 5
Delta Dirt
"Calm before the storm"??? Its a bright and sunny day here right now--------you would never suspect that hurricane Ida is sneaking up the Mississipi River toward us. Expecting 30--40 mph winds----and 3--8" of rain. Should have moved on through come Tuesday. Hurricanes and Harvest don't mix well. DD

Delta Dirt
Mistuh Hillbilly------ We are not heading for "them that hills" yet. We are 300+ miles inland-------looks as if the eye is stearing slightly eastward which is leaving us right along the westernmost path. Rainfall and wind looking lighter for right now. Keeping fingers crossed-----but that doesn't help folks to the East of us. Major damage and effects in south Louisiana and Gulf Coast as I type. twostepn2001
Glad that this thread is back. Now l can get back to posting pics and asking what is it....lol Speaking of which......what kind of tractor is this? lnfo on the pic says taken in the '20's. Whatever it is still exist and is parked in the "Y" median of a state highway in a small town near here, Albany, Texas. There is also a old wooden cable tool rig there.
Roger Byrne
I think that old drilling rig is mounted on a 12-25 Crossmotor Minneapolis tractor. The narrow front end, the wheel/spoke pattern, and the belt pull on the side in front of the back wheel makes it the nearest match I can think of. It looks like they remounted the radiator and fuel tank in the front. I worked on one of those 25 years ago and I found a video of one in operation and the link is below. Not one of Minneapolis better ideas . . . even for those early years. https://ne-np.facebook.com/ClassicTractorFever/videos/12-25-minneapolis-mehling-early-tractor-collection-aumann-vintage-power/557243285654174/
ray54
Glad your all here. I was going to get some water melon pictures of my 6 or 8 drought stunted plants most even made 2 or 3 melons. But since I was thinking this would be gone longer, never took pics. Turned the heifers in as one calved about 10 to 20 days early. Need them out of the brush so easier to watch. As most farmers next year will be better.
