T 20 Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Why can't I post a pict that is 640x480??? I've always been able to do so in the past... Mo
farmall57 Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 It's not the physical size of the picture that makes the difference, although that is certainly related, it's the file size. A high quality 640x480 picture might be 300 kilobytes, while a lesser quality 1024x768 picture might be 100 kilobytes. Most all photo programs will let you save jpg pictures at various quality levels, sometimes a large picture at a lesser quality might be sufficient, and sometimes a higher quality smaller picture might be better. It's what ever serves the purpose best for that particular picture.
T 20 Posted October 5, 2006 Author Posted October 5, 2006 I've always been able to do so in the past... I mean a week ago, I posted, no problem. I've always had my camera set to 640x480, and haven't changed anything... Why can't I post now??? Mo

I've always had my camera set to 640x480, and haven't changed anything... Why can't I post now??? Mo I can tell you exactly why it's not working, Mo old chap. It's because of that dinky size restriction on photos here at this board. I just now wanted to post a 150 dpi crawler photo and the #$% site wouldn't accept it. I agree with my friend, Juli, in that before I'll post a dinky little thumbnail sketch, I just won't post anything at all!
Farmall Power Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I havn't been able to get a picture up either, going to try to down size the pictures. OR maybe just stay on the new board Jeremy
IvyCat Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I havn't been able to get a picture up either, going to try to down size the pictures. OR maybe just stay on the new board Jeremy Hi Guys, Can you do me a favor and right-click on the pic you're trying to upload and post or PM me with the file size properties? In Windows, you can right-click on the pic and see a size figure that will show the total file size. farmall57 is correct - it's not necessarily the physical size of the pic (640x480 or 800x600), but also colors and content that determine the amount of data in the picture. Thanks, Eric
Mr. Roper Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 The last ones that I tried were anywhere from 762 kb - 975kb. I never did have trouble posting pics, and now , nothing but trouble. Most of the guys on here know more than I do about computers, but something needs to be done, especially for us dummies. Thanks.

Since I haven't changed anything there has to be a problem on that end... First, the 'file restriction' thing, then, the inability to post more than one pict without 'replying' to one's self. I can deal both both of those restrictions. Now, however, I can't even post... Now, it's impossible to share documents, or descriptive picts. This board is goin' downhill, for sure... Mo
TRACTOR BOY Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Mo I have no problems with it? This was done in one go.
WEK Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Mo I have no problems with it? This was done in one go. [/color]Yep, Jim, but by right-clicking on your pictures here and checking Properties I see that they're all about 6 Kb in size. Since I draw all my photos from my permanent files, which I have already reduced to about 3" in width in order to fit the screen when I draw 'em up, I don't want to really go to all the trouble of resizing them all again. Guess if I want to post any pics I'll follow FP's advice and head for the other BB. You know how stubborn I am

Hi Mr. Roper, These file sizes are too large for the board - the limit is 250KB per post. In order to clear up some of the frustrations with posting pictures and make it easier for everyone, I'll be posting a How-To on posting pictures shortly. Thanks for your patience. Eric
Rusty Seeker Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I've basically stopped visiting this great site anymore because of these dang photo restrictions. Half this place's charm is good pictures, and now nobody can post a decent sized picture with good quality to make out any details (with the acception of a few), so I just dont bother anymore... I have Remote Access Dial Up, and it is unbelieveably slow, but the pictures here are worth the wait, and I think most anybody would agree. This place used to be user friendly, now its almost a beaurocracy like enviroment... Cant even bring up guns without being booted. Somethings gotta change here, its a shame . 'Till something changes, I probably wont be posting anymore. Sorry if I may have seemed a little POed, but I needed a little place to vent. Where are we going, and why are we in a ham basket? Evan
