acem Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Sounds like fun! Ive looked into it several times. Never have the cash to blow. If you're wearing clothes they are expected to be in costume. Probably be easier to go without. Definitely cheaper! I might be able to come up with a bus but it would need a complete redo before going. How much gas would it take to drive from Arkansas to Burning man??? I read the RVs cost around $7000 for the week.. Quote

New Englander Posted September 1 Posted September 1 I flew passengers into Reno for burning man many times . Yep, all sorts of costumes and a lots of excitement from aging hippies. When returning they and all their clothes and luggage was covered with playa, a very fine white dust that gets everywhere. Plane would need a complete detailing after. The National Auto Museum is in Reno and has many of the Harrah cars, a very good take. Quote

Long way from Alabama If close enough I could see buying an older rv and going then selling for whatever you could get. No way would I want to dry or rough camp there for a week. Of course 3 days would be enough. Also read that you had to be sure rental place allowed the vehicle to go to burning man because of the playa dust. Quote

The total washout of that festival a couple of years ago. Everything I've ever read or seen about that party in the desert turns my stomach. Quote

New Englander Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Red Tail Aviation out of Moab, Utah, set up a temporary landing strip and ferried moneyed folks from Reno in their Kodiak planes. Some of the later flights I did transferred to them to get to their well provisioned RV already staged at Burning Man. Red Tail runs the FBO at Canyon Land Airport. We visited often as the principle had a home on the Colorado River there. Since we bought lots of jet fuel and our plane sunk into the ramp they cast a concrete parking area just for us. It was good incentive for us to keep buying more fuel than we needed for the courtesy. Quote
