I’m looking for a 1000 gallon tank to get us through winter on one fill hopefully. I haven’t bought any bulk diesel yet. Illini986 Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Didn't go past any stations on the way to work this morning but yesterday gas was $3.90-$4.00 through town and diesel was $5.85-$5.89. Haven't checked red diesel in a month. Coop quoted me $1.82 for propane and normal gas supplier told me $1.85 but wouldn't commit to a contract. Got one other option here in town but have a feeling they won't be much cheaper. I used just over 900 gallons last winter and am hoping to use about the same this year. Quote

acem Posted September 3 Posted September 3 LPG is around $1.80 here. Gas is under $4. 3.5-4 depending on where you go. Highway diesel is nearly $6 LPG sounds like the best deal to me. Quote

oleman Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I have been driving gas / diesel fuel powered vehicles since 1952 but have never driven an LPG powered anything except an RV GENSET. When tobacco was a cash crop (in South Carolina) and many gallons of LPG were used for curing the weed only the delivery trucks were ever power by LPG most were gas powered not diesel. Actually the first MACK I saw was 57 with diesel. AT that time diesel was pumped by ME for 10 to 15 per cents per gallon and gasoline was 32.9 cents. After the oil companies got the diesel ball rolling up in price truckers were already hooked on the golden diesel. Quote

Low power and high maintenance costs. We have around 4,000 of them at larger hubs, my hub is all diesels. 1 Quote
Lazy WP Posted September 4 Author Posted September 4 Seaboard farms in Optima Oklahoma runs a number of them hauling hog and feed. I see some Amazon trucks are CNG on I 35 near Ft Worth. They must be getting some tax breaks? Lots of 3406 Cat motors have been converted to CNG for irrigation wells in western Kansas and that area. Used to see a lot of the big Minne Mo motors, but they are being replaced with the Cats Quote
