acem Posted September 6 Posted September 6 I expect Amazon or whoever, is not being helpful. Probably can't get anyone to talk to them except some AI bot. Plus our moderator is a volunteer that has an outside job. The problems we are having may need the expertise of a webmaster or administrator. It is possible that they need help. Is anyone here qualified to assist? I'm about 30 years behind in my computer skills. I do know some FORTRAN if that would be helpful, not. IMHO YMMV 1 1 Quote
MacAR Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Fair point, Ace. But dear Lord you'd think if you're paying for a service (I'm assuming they are anyway) that you could get some type of customer service that isn't just AI... of course it's likely to be someone who neither speaks nor understands the English language... 1 Quote
acem Posted September 6 Posted September 6 My son (IT) has an old roommate who went to work for Amazon. He says they laid alot of people off. Replaced them with AI. 2 Quote
CRVB91 Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Lots of internal server errors today unfortunately 😪 I think the ongoing issues will be the cause of a lot of people going elsewhere, however i think the regulars will stay while they figure it out... if we all need to pitch in, I'd be happy to if we can keep the forum too! It isnt as entertaining without the pictures admittedly but Acem is correct, there are still good conversations that go on unless you're illiterate and only here to view pictures, it isnt the end of the world. Let's hope one of the admins updates us soon, I'm sure they're doing their best. 5 Quote
acem Posted September 6 Posted September 6 I would pitch in too. I can even ask my son to ask his friend at Amazon if he might help. Unfortunately Amazon is a huge company and the likelyhood of him working in a related department is very slim. I think he was writing code but is in some lower management now 1 Quote
Gabriella Cook Posted September 8 Posted September 8 we all love this place so I'm 99% sure wed all pitch in if they'd just tell us WTH is going down Quote
jeffym42 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Thanks again for everyone's patience. We have still not received word back from AWS. All the pictures are in regards to the storage being held there. We do NOT want to move forward with changing all the storage if in fact we can get the old pictures back. As for right now the rest of the forum should function as normal. The goal is to NOT lose pictures from past posts. As we continue to work on this be on the lookout for the September/October issue. This will be hitting mailboxes Sept. 8th -15th. 1 8 Quote
