Farming Enthusiast Posted July 14 Posted July 14 The value in these tractors is in the looks and rarity which is artificial to me. Sometimes things are rare for a reason. I'd rather have models with legendary reliability, durability and performance over looks. That being said, I'd like to have that kind of expendable money. 2 Quote

I remember being at a sale and seeing a 14 go for 3,000$ and the auctioneer saying something like "Its one of those V8 tractors nothing special". Quote

But that’s just me😁 Well, the 1468 or 1568 are better built machines, no doubt. Today’s $70,000.00, $80,000.00 (and even more) pickup trucks these days are rolling pieces of sh_t. They have engine problems, transmission problems, electrical problems up the yahzoo. Today’s vehicles are over-priced garbage. 2 Quote

I was at a farm equipment auction near Bryan, Ohio many years ago, 1985. They had an absolutely beautiful 1468 on auction, with the factory Deluxe Cab on it. It hammered at $12,500.00. I remember certain things, but not always things I REALLY should remember. lol! I was never tempted by the 1468 or 1568. I stuck with the turbo’d IH 6 cylinders back when I was active farming. I once got to run a 1468 for a farmer back in the day. I was also working for a farmer who had a F1256. Even as young as I was back then, I had the impression that that 1256 would eat that 1468’s lunch if the chips were down. That impression is what kept me from ever buying a 1468 later on when I was farming for myself. 1 Quote

stronger800 Posted July 15 Posted July 15 Had, have, like them, pretty easy to spend 70k on a F150 these days. I enjoy my ‘70s tractors but I have no interest in driving an old truck. And here in NY, it’s Very hard to even have an old truck, that’s not junk. So the new ones are junk, and the old ones are junk, and some people buy $8 iced coffee. I make my own coffee,but have had upper trim trucks for a long time Quote
