385, but the cover fits all the way to 885

Should have ordered the 25 gallon size in black with the red draw strings instead of the 30 gallon in white with the twisty ties.

I was actively looking for a 385 when this 485 popped up on Clist.  The 385 was the first "other than "Farmall" IH tractor I was exposed to.  It came in on consignment when I worked at the JD dealership in the 80's.  I didn't have the money for it then, but said I would have one someday.  I have not been disappointed.

This one was a real survivor, on one farm for several owners, until the final owner. It just got beat, then stuck in a pond, where it sat apparently for several days, then buried transmission deep in mud. Based on the shape of the brush hog that came with it… I am actually not sure how you do that to an implement.. but they did. It had 1,100 hours on it and paint inside the bucket, but they bent it extracting it from the mud. I drained and flushed hydro at least 3 times, unhooked every cylinder and cycled them to empty the contaminated fluid. Ultimately had to pull the axles to get the water out of the brakes. That metal cover over the transmission was packed full of mud. 
I need to pull it in at this point and pull the top cover and start from square 1 adjusting the 3 point hitch, it’s all sorts of messed up. I feel like it will be a nice tractor once the bugs are out of it.. but it’s been a long haul.

That's interesting. Mine wasn't far from that condition when I got it. It was on a working farm, but they had been using it to dig gravel out of a creek. Loader was tweaked and little bits of stone were stuck in every crevice from the trans forward. Crud in the fuel tank was about 6" deep. They are tough, for sure.

Idk if the 485 is any different, but this one is way too light in the loafers. It needs a substantial implement on the back, scraper blade isn’t enough. The tires are loaded, I have a set of utility weights I have yet to put on. It needs all it can get.

I don't know the exact difference in them, but not much.  I have 16.9x28's on mine with no fluid. The only time I have the loader on is hay season. Then there is a bale fork on the back with a 4x5 bale on it, which takes care of any weight issues. When the loader is off it gets an old CASE forklift rear weight on the front and a 7' rotary cutter on the back. So, with the way I use it, being too light in the rear hasn't been an issue.
