U-C Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Been a few years since I was back in the old Country (16 years) and will be there from Mai 23 to June 16 (might stay longer but that is not for certain yet) Not sure yet but might go to a tractor show or two, or old farm machinery museums. 4 Quote

whweldit Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Stayed in Zurich for several days December 2023. Took the trains to the Matterhorn and several other areas. Had the granddaughter with us (she was 24). Had a grand time. Plan to go back sometime in the summer. 3 Quote

Coytee Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Beautiful. I spent a several weeks blitzing around Switzerland & Germany in 1994. Had a sweet gal with me. Intending on working to Matterhorn and doing some skiing in Zermatt. Arrived in Lucerne, stayed in the (old castle?) which was cool.... next day went to Mount Pilatus. When we arrived (unannounced) they asked if we had reservations.... uh oh.... No.... we don't Oh, that's ok. There's nobody in the hotel anyway, we're remodeling. Whew, fine. What was not fine was we went to the restaurant to eat and from checking in to eating a snow front moved in shutting down the cable lifts and we were snowed in for three days. Just that quickly. Just my gal pal from college, the construction people and a skeleton crew from the hotel. Since we were the only public there, they doted on is as it gave them something to do. Was a memorable couple days but also some miserable days, cost us the leg to go to Zermatt. 1 Quote
whweldit Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Couple more. Snowed about 30 inches night we got to Zurich 6 Quote

U-C Posted June 14 Author Posted June 14 The old farm, the barn attached to the house is no longer the one i knew when I was a kid. The farm is a mess today, when my parents were renters there it had to be very clean. 3 Quote

U-C Posted June 15 Author Posted June 15 In the last week or so I tried to get work in a Alpine operation but that meant to nothing partly I'm to blame cause i rarely phone people. One guy was easy to talk to and if were a day earlier he would of given me a chance and the feller I called yesterday, first he wasn't around and called back, but it was harder to talk to that guy, he did say he will phone back that evening but never did. So wasted that evening waiting! One fb friend that farms in northwestern Switzerland and has horses, beef and goats and crops to told me to stay a week or two longer and try and try again, however tat would of worked fine if I had a place to stay, cause can't stay at the aunts place longer as I already had ... and I do not want to be a freeloader either for any one. Other than tat the trip went well and was interesting with mostly ups and one major low. Quote
