Let us not allow the tragedies yesterday to overshadow those of 24 years ago today. So many lost their lives senselessly both from the immediate and residual effects of the attack.

I cant forget cause it's my birthday! But I also think of the Israeli killings of Oct. and the Palestinians in Gaza the innocent ones that are going through disaster due to Hamas!

So much senselessness of it all ! Please pray for peace!

I remember it like it was yesterday, but both of my girls were born after. Seems kinda strange.

I was a Sophomore in high school then. Was outside on the field for Marching Band practice when we heard. Went back inside the school to get more information. One of the teachers wanted to shut the TV off because she thought it was "too much for us", luckily most of the students told her we needed to see this and shut her up.

I was at work, we were listening to Howard Stern show and he started talking about it. We thought it was a joke at first, but he got serious and kept talking about it. One of the guys lived close to work, ran home and grabbed a portable tv and we watched the second plane hit. The boss came in told us to finish up what we were working on and go home.

My dad was hit by a semi on 9/11/98, he survived the wreck, but was in pain the rest of his life. He passed on 6/11/02.

All of the people who died that day and the military members who have died because of the attacks, may they RIP. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

May we take a moment as a nation so heavily divided right now to reflect back on the events of that day 24 years ago.  We came together as a nation: not left or right. Not democrat or republican, but as Americans.   Members of humanity.  We are the strongest, best version of ourselves when we come together and work in harmony.   Today, supporters of a cause are cheering when someone on the other side is shot.  Murder is still wrong.  Those countries that wish us harm and want us to fail, are laughing at us.  We are tearing our own nation apart and the division allows them a way in to divide us further.   United we stand. Divided we fall.  May we never forget.   Comfort and blessings to those souls lost and their families. You are not forgotten.

I was sitting at my desk at work listening to the radio when the news came across.  The boss turned on the tv before the second plane hit.  For whatever reason, I remember how my office was lit up by the sun. Didn’t seem fitting.

My kid’s school was on my way home from work. A few days later, driving by I thought how all the world will forever be changed by this.  Very sad.

The single most striking thing i will remember from that day was how endless the sky looked .  So blue with no clouds and trails from aircraft as planes were grounded. Like you could reach up and touch heaven.

They say that you never forget where you were, or what you were doing when 9/11 happened, and they're not wrong! I was only 10, but I still remember it, like it was yesterday.

I was in Houston scheduled to fly to NY's LGA later that morning. The other pilot called me and said "quick, turn on the TV, a plane just hit the WTC". Well, I'd already checked the weather and knew it was clear and a million and couldn't understand how that could happen. I got to see the live image of the second hit.

Another of our crews was airborne and called out of the sky on the way to SFO from New York. They landed at Salt Lake and drove to San Francisco pedal to the metal reasoning all the cops were at the airports. Rental car said to have a speed limiter at 115.

Yes we were united as a nation then, sadly it's now open season on those who want to have an honest conversation with youth at collages.

I was listening to the  swap shop on the local radio when someone called in saying something was going on in NYC.  Radio man said it would wait.

I turned on the TV and shortly later watched the second tower hit.

Seems like I left and went to clean out a neighbors Turkey houses.

I was in the shop working on lawnmowers when my boss came out and said someone had flown into the WTC. He went and found an old TV somewhere and we watched the 2nd plane and the aftermath. I actually called a military recruiter the next week, but at 39 was too old.

I was working at Heartland COOP in Montezuma in 2001.  I had just loaded a semi load of corn and was nearly done refilling the overhead bin when the phone rang in the control room.  The boss called from the office to say:  finish what you are doing and shut everything up.  Our country was under attack and we were closing up.  Come to the office.  I walked into the office just in time to see the second plane hit the tower on the old black and white TV perched on top of the refrigerator.   A small room filled with coop employees and loafing farmers watched that small screen as the events unfolded that day and the mighty towers fell.  Panic and rumor gripped the small community and the possibility of fuel shortages soon had the cars lined up along the shoulder near the Casey's.  By early afternoon,  they were sold out of gas.  Now, I had driven into town that morning with the fuel light on.  With no fuel available,  I drove north to Malcom.  Waiting in line, I watched fools filling their tanks, cans and even fuel trailers.   Ome by one, pumps went dry.  I finally had my turn and pumped $11.00/ gallon (price goughing was rampant) into my tank.  Drove home; so glad to be there!  Wondered how soon life would return to normal.  All radio and TV stations were non stop coverage of the attacks.

JFK shot I was outside my 6th grade classroom. Yeah, I remember a few more like the Challenger disaster and president Reagan’s eloquent speech.
