Flasher lights on out of the blue

Recommended Posts

So what would cause the flasher lights to light up, not flash, out of the blue?  Cab flasher lights have not been used in months, tractor has not been started in weeks either. 😑

Switch melting due to 40*C temps?  Flasher messed up ?  Had to disconnect batteries to shut them off.  If turned on light switch, the white work lights would work.  Very odd!

88 series.

Flasher unit was replaced about 5 years ago.  Original key switch and light switch.

You can find a universal electronic flasher that won't care if the lamps are incandescent, LED, or a mixture and if the problem is the flasher that'd be a cheap fix. Google universal electronic flasher to see if there's one that'll do.

I believe the turn signals and hazard lights are all one unit.

Nothing like making it more complicated (expensive) than it needs to be!

Probably same unit as your 786.

I just threw out the broken one that's been lying on the bench! I don't remember where I got the replacement. Ebay, perhaps?

My John Deere 4310 has the flasher built into the turn signal. It's all one unit that mounts under the dash where the turn signal stalk comes out.  Expensive to replace.  It stopped working and I saw on a YouTube video how to replace it with a $5 automotive flasher. I didn't need the turn signal anyway.  A couple of jumper wires and spade terminals to the $5 auto parts flasher and I was in business.

Yes that's the turn signal switch on has. It's an open station tractor so I don't feel the need for turn signals. My $5 flasher still working just fine. I put it in a ziplock bag and zip tied it up under the dash where it will stay dry.
