Well rotary phones are incompatible with the phone systems of today and cursive’s only good point is quicker to write as pen doesn’t leave paper but is much harder to read. With everything computerized for writing now printing is fine other than a signature and most of those are becoming electronic now.

You can make your signature look like something with a sign with your finger on a tablet?

I can't make anything readable with a signature on a tablet.

No most are basically typing your signature after you’ve gotten an authorization code to enter.

Then its really typing your name. Not doing your signature.

Get that code. Any idiot can type a nam. Yeah signature isn't foolproof obviously but it is more personalized than anyone typing your name.

I’ve done loans and legal papers that way for 10 years.

Cursive is harder to read????  I’ve seen some pretty poor printing.

Might be but is it your signature? Or is it your name typed out.

Again with the right information anyone can type your name up for consent. At least with a signature you have to do your homework to forge something up.

Im saying this and im younger than you.

Only old people have heard of a phone book. If it's not online it doesn't exist.

Ever hear of TV Guide???    I guess I am old too.

Get a fat business and tiny local phone book every 2-3 yrs

TVG since  < '58     3 issues left ,yes its $2 /wk $6/iss ,but even with Biflation it doesnt compare to $10/52/yr .25 in store, almost never correct and devoid of info that was in the a1 size.

We had readers digest + alot of add ons for 80yrs+ gone 3 yr now, the hindians wanted $1.50 ea for 1/4 size issues.....Should have taken the $50 pay life, but that was 2x gold or tomato seeds.

National geographic was always good for a world tour ,too heavy to keep more than a few years ,got passed around the community, for those doing 4th grade book reports then generally donated to one of the regional library drives.

rotary phone in barn but they came and removed ALL seen copper WIRES, So the replacements are linked thru aluminum with this computer at $300/mo

GC had to learn cursive but the refuse to use........carrots and koolaid are less stressful.

CPR is rarely used. Is that a total waste of brain space also?

I won’t be saving anyone’s life by knowing how to write cursive.

That point went right over your head.  When I was in school it was taught that professionals wrote in cursive.  Printing was lazy and sloppy.  Just my take on it.  Your mileage may vary.

I know of a incident with a stolen checkbook back in 2016. Rabo Bank paid out several checks that had random names on them that any fool that looked could tell was not a signer on the account.  They did put the funds back in the account.

Done both ways, sign using a stylus no different than a pen.

You weren’t clear on this earlier.

In this form you are actually making a signature.

We were running errands today, told the wife let's just order supper and bring it home.

Went into Olive Garden to order supper.... conversation went something like this.......

1. Them.  Good evening, can we take your order

2. Me.  Yeah, I would like to give you an order to go.

3. Them. Great, what can we get for you.

4. Me.  (I give him the order)

5. Them. That will be about 20 minutes.

6. Me.  I need to run a last errand. Just have it ready at "quarter till 6".

Ok, here it comes...

Them.  "What time is that?"

Ya can't make this stuff up!!

Quater til 6 AM or Pm for supper?

Better yet, ask them if they know what a phone book is 😂😂. I once had someone ask me for a relatives address, I told them to look it up in the phone book, they looked at me like I had 4 eyeballs 😂😂😂

Anyone up for a cup of joe???

Mark

Years ago I was thinking about creating a landscape business. I was sitting down with a business specialist thinking of names and logos. They said do something where your company name will be in the beginning of the phone book......Blue Bird, Cardinal landscaping.......my 1st thought was " who uses a phone book"

Started learning cursive in 2nd grade(early 90's) it was pushed all the way through elementary school with the same exact reasoning. Got into 6th grade. Jr high teachers said " why are you writing in cursive "

Ya can't make this stuff up!!

One year after plowing parking lots I'd join the side walk crew and help clear walk ways. At a church a new hire shoveled up the steps. Tossing up each shovel full to each step.

An old high school friend of mine worked at a tractor dealership. He was given the company credit card to fill up the work trucks. He bought a fancy phone, truck tool box, and a lift kit with it..........when he got fired he asked if he could keep that stuff.......

Didn't think you could get worse than those things lol

Probably been a decade since I have seen a new phone book.  People do move and/or change phone numbers reducing the accuracy of older phone books.  I must not eat out enough.  I don't know of a place that you can tell a restaurant when to have something ready.  You call in and they tell you when it is ready.  Don't want it too early then call back later closer to when you want it.  The Olive Garden has to be the most pretentious restaurant in the industry.

Many times i have told them to delay the order till a later time than they said it would be ready.  Sometimes i call in an order shortly after lunch for 7 PM pickup for example so i get the timing i want.  Nice & hot when i get it home that way as i try to be there a few minutes before i told them & pay so when order comes out i can hit the road.

I can't make anything readable with a signature on a tablet.

My CIH dealer has me sign that electronic thing with my finger now, works poorly.  Also many times on credit card readers. I have asked a few times if a signature has ever been declined & have always been told never. I sign "Z Z TOPP" but it isn't readable anyhow, rarely somebody can read it & they just chuckle.
