An Update on the EV Scene

With the losses that Tesla is experiencing and the Cybertruck issue at the car wash the other day I wonder if Musk would entertain the thought of preloading Working at the Car Wash Blues by Jim Croce into the sound system. Seems like a fitting song.

"People don’t believe renewables are cheap any more, so activists pretend they never said it was"

And

"Ford lost $1.3 billion in a quarter, a loss of $132,000 on every EV sold"

"Remember when Ford was just losing $38,000 on every EV? Those were the good days

The biggest star in the automotive world at the moment is a black hole, and it’s swallowing whole industrial giants. It’s hard to imagine a faster way to sabotage whole nations than to disguise your spies as academics and environmentalists. Then get them to convince the government to command a whole new market into existence a highly technological field with the wave of a legislated wand.

These numbers are astronomical:"

Um.   That 1.3 billion was just divided over EV sold.  Not every car.  Pretty disingenuous imho.

Not picking a fight just dont like that kind of sensational "math"

Wife's Friend (North of Seattle area) bought EV Drove it for a year, got rid of it. Said to early to own one Not as good as claim.

Yes

Majority of EV owners do not buy 2nd.  Slow charging i assume.  I mean honestly I wouldnt mind a EV pickup.  IF affordable.  I dont put 200 a week on my farm truck.  $430 gas and 440 diesel is kicking my butt.  All about the application....

Heck i could putt around in a civic most trips.  Have dogs with me more than a 6' bed requiring cargo.

Lol... who is buying cybertrucks ( hideous ) for off roading?  Its just a status symbol.  Remember when PT cruisers were all the rage?  A list celebrity were in em and all.  3 years later you could buy one for 30% of new.  Even for a bit the cool kids were in prius.  Didnt last long either

Well us relatively simple folk could see this a mile away without business and marketing degrees, their stock market is smoking worse than their battery fires

From here on - if you tell us that you are driving a new petrol fueled Ford don't try crying poor

"Ford explains it will have to stop selling petrol cars to poor people so it can meet government EV rules"

Chiefio's summary -

"2 guys, 2 trucks, 2 trailers, 85 miles.
Ram Diesel $25.74 in a minute or two for 8.73 gallons.

CyberTruck $37.45 in about 1hour 15 minutes for 107 kWhr and 6% left in the battery.

8000 lb Toy Hauler trailer.

Oh, and you must unhitch the trailer to back up to the SuperCharger to recharge. One one unhitch, leaving in a parking space, re-hitch per fill-up…

So basically, drive an hour, charge an hour… and 11 charging stops from Colorado to L.A. "

Local Home Depot has a Ryobe riding lawn mower reduced 50% to 2700. US. Looks like the prices are going in the right direction, still more than it is worth to me.
