1971 Travelette 4x4 engine swap

I recently purchased a 1971 Travelette 4x4. I have a 1998 International school bus with a T444E.

Has anyone ever swapped a 444 into one of these trucks? I know it will be a lot of work but I think it would be neat to have an International engine in an International pickup. I am prepared to find a Super Duty or OBS Ford pickup for a transmission, because I don't think the International (Spicer) 7 speed will fit easily.

Thanks for the help,

Matt

I've seen a 6.9 in a 76 Ford F200 and 5.9 Cummins in an 89 Ford super duty. It can be done with enough effort.

However I have had good service from the IH SV engines (304, 345, 392). I currently run a 304 on my irrigation pump during the summer months. It often runs 24/7 for days on end. Very tough engine.
