I was always liking that my 2388 had the belt tightner Separator Engage..... simple, no clutch pack to go bad.

Oh well.

The key sheared under gear on main shaft that drives the gear on output. Gonna be spendy, new shaft, gears, seals, bearings etc

Project  pics.  Guess I won't have to tear apart another day for hydro splines, can do them now while it's apart. They are getn purty wore any ways!

Did the rotor plug or something to shear the key?

Nope, was jus starting another pass, doing corn, and everything stopped.

Went and looked in back and noticed the pulley that drives separator belt was jus barely spinning while motor was running. Pushed the belt against it with my foot, and it stopped.....hmmmmm

Bet you our experience last week was still more expensive.

Input shaft bearing failure which took out a lot of other stuff in the transmission.

I got 3300 Engine Hrs, how many you have? I'm thinking that will be the next big thing for me is that  tranny input and lower hydro shaft. Thought about jus taking it apart off season and check it.

Here are a few more pics of repair.  Did the rear engine seal, Bushing in crankshaft, and replaced the Damper plate because the springs had wore their spring pocket and one of the keeper tabs  in the pocket had broke off also.

You can see the bad key way in shaft. The press fit of small gear onto shaft was ruined also.

Pto gearbox got completely rebuilt with all new bearings.

Jus thought I'd show some more pics of job I took when it got repaired.
