Neat M with backhoe and loader

This is the machine I mentioned in my seat thread.
It belonged to the local IH dealer before the current owner bought it. Has a thumb apparently, and mostly got used in later life to pick wood out of a pile for easier cutting.
This machine was used , or attempted to be used to dig my grandfather’s dry well in 1967  , dad said after about a day and a half they gave up and did it by hand. ( we have big rocks where I grew up).

Does anyone recognize the hoe? It seems To have been manufactured, not home built.

There was a Ford 8n with a hoe that could well have been a scaled down version of the pictured one. When I first saw the N with a hoe I thought it was a joke.  It worked much better than I thought it would. But digging depth was still very limited.  Rather than a loader on the other end it had a small blade that angled to backfill.

If I had the money and it was for sale I’d want it. No idea on your question though

It is for sale. I would be interested, but I am not sure I hate myself that much.

Beats a shovel

You always say that, i am not so sure in this case . I see 4 hours of repair and many extra hours digging, a shovel might be faster.

That was the first backhoe I ever ran I helped the owner straighten up his pole barn I was so small I could not push the pedals in to move the M around so he would back it up to where I needed it and I would dig and when that was ready he would move me to the next pole.

Needs straightening again, that roof pitches more directions than you can shake a stick at.
