Justintime
After switching to diesel, do I need to shut off the gasoline valve while operating and turn it back on when shutting down the tractor or do I just leave them open?
mmi
just turn off after started (If it even works)it only holds 15 min of CRAP gas,and will be on the ground 99% ,with ANY procedure. for shut off, if all else is good, you just need to leave the little valves in diesel to cool slowly. CRAP gas is not going to give/leave you anything next go.regardless of manuals or gossip, short of $50 G real gas and EVERYTHING else 100%

After startup is there a reason to shut off the gas valve after switching to diesel for use and then turn it back on to let the engine run on gas just before shutting down? Or should I just leave the gas valve open when using?
McCormick 40
If it doesn't drain the tank while using it you can just leave it on, but one of mine will drain the gas tank if you don't shut it off.
hardtail
It's not how the manual states but after gas start and successfully switching to diesel I close the gas tank petcock, then once your done using it I idle it down on diesel for cooling for at least 5 mins before shutting off the machine, so I only use gas for the starting portion
Tad Wicks
As long as you have no leaks to the carb it is not necessary to close the valve under the gas tank, the changeover mechanism pushes down on the float valve in the carb shutting off the fuel anyway.
pede
If you've ever had one get gas on the diesel side, you'll shut it off.
