Goose3980
Hello! I'm chasing the leak at the input shaft into the engine. Tonight I'm lifting the gearbox+hydro out of the combine. So far I've learned to plan on replacing the rear main, bushing in the flywheel, the shaft it self and of course the seal. My main question is, is there any reason I should have major trouble getting the bevel gear off the shaft? And are there any other parts I should be looking at replacing, and if there are what am I looking for in terms of wear? I do plan on pulling the hydro off as well to inspect the shaft and coupler. I want to learn as much as I can and do as much preventive maintenence as possible, within reason obviously so any input you have on this project I would love to hear. If you know of other posts in this forum about this project please link me to them aswell. I've not had a lot of luck searching but that could be my error lol. Alan Dinan
I think that coupler itself has issues. I think they added a grease fitting for that reason. And both shafts.
JaredT
We did that shaft replacement in our 1480 last year. We had to heat up the gear to press it off of the shaft and heated it up again and pressed it onto the new shaft. It was quite stubborn. Otherwise everything went smooth.
