Matterhorn is located in Switzerland vis a vis of Zermatt maybe if ya ever seen the Disney movie Banner in the Sky, that is the Matterhorn in that movie.

Height is 14,692 feet or 4,478 meters

first decent was in 14 July 1865 by Edward Whymper, Charles Hudson, Francis Douglas, Douglas Robert Hadow, Michel Croz, Peter Taugwalder senior and Peter Taugwalder Junior. 4 of those 7 men did not make it when they climbed down the mountain. To this day the Matterhorn is the most Deadly mountain to climb, it is estimated that the Matterhorn has claimed over 500 men

X1000.  That would be one of my worst nightmares.  I get a little nervous on top of a grain bin.

Fortunately, that is starting to change.

For an awesome story, look up Nims Purja. He and his team were the first to summit all 14 >8,000 meter peaks in one season. This was 5 or 6 years ago. I think everybody on the team was Nepalese. No big money sponsors because they weren't white... They completed their mission with mostly second-hand gear patched up with duct tape. Simply amazing what they did.

We Swiss do not have sherpa's ;) each climber has a Swiss mountain guide and each person has to carry their own gear
