d239 alternatives for 574,674

Hey like to find out what else could be used if needed to swap in place of neuss d239. Diesel or gas doesnt matter.  Even 6 cylinder alternative on the 674 since theres no frame or anything in the way. My ( 574 ) is actually a 250A backhoe so only a 4 cylinder would be feasible. Diesel would need to be something with an easily serviced and available injection pump.

Thanks.

Currently a 454 4 cyl gasser on an upcoming purplewave auction.

Actually a very nice looking machine.

Very little difference between the 454 and the rest of the family but it has no side rails.  Believe it came with a d179 3 cyl version of the D239 4 cyl or a C200 gasser.

What else can be used? Not much. Just engines from the same family of tractors. 74 series, 84 series, 85 series, 95 series. After that they get too new and too few to really show up in salvage yards. At least, not without serious custom modification which you would be entirely on your own to figure out and perform.

D268, D246, D239 of course, D206, C200 gas (but you may need some parts off a gas tractor)

Can you use a Perkins from the C series? Its pretty much the same Doncaster tractor behind the engine I believe.

Forget 6 cylinder just isn't gonna happen ,Go with the same family of four cylinder engines unless you want to pull your hair out

I am betting they're computerized to some degree so it would be a lot more work than its worth.

It's amazing how long they used that basic Doncaster platform. Even longer than the 06 series.
