DT Fan
Stay with me on this. Every time I go to some sort of 'tractor event', pull, ride, plow-day, whatever. If I show up with a Red tractor, my Orange buddies give me the business. If I show up with an Orange tractor, My Red tractor buddies give me the business. That's (one reason) why I really need to add a Meadow Green one to the stable! Of course, would probably get to know more people from the Oliver camp and they would give me the business when I show up with something Red or Orange! Part of the reason for these thoughts is because I went on two rides this weekend. Took the D-15 Saturday. Made it about 200 yards from the first stopping point and had a flat tire. At least it was a front tire! Anyway, got it loaded up, went and ate lunch with the group and got back home. Yesterday, took the 756 on the CAPOOT ride out of Collins. No problems but we did get rained on just a bit at the tail end. Should have taken some picture yesterday but forgot. Friend of mine, Don, had his 400 there and it is a beauty. I had never seen it. All of his tractors are really nice. On an unrelated note, the 756 seems to run better all the time as it gets worked/run. Going to bush-hog some cornstalks with it and maybe a little discing this fall. Anyway, that's the reason for these thoughts. Probably is no correct answer.
IHandJDman
As my son says about our Oliver, it's the wrong green. My son gives me a hard time about the IHs, I give him a hard time about his 3010. We both give my wife a hard time about her Moline. Such is life in the tractor world. 4
MacAR
I'm a dyed in the wool IH man, but there is just something about the 660/770/880 Oliver's that I really like. Same goes for the 15/16/17/ etc. series of tractors. It's easy to spend other people's money, but if I found a good looking machine that I liked, I'd have no problem adding it to the stable. dale560
Worked on a few 1650,1550 and 55s. They were popular loader tractors here. We owned a later 1850 standard diesel for a bit.
sd186man
Olivers are nice, we had a 1550 gas for many years, ran as smooth as a sewing machine, good loader tractor, just didn’t have a use for a gas tractor anymore

supermechanic
There is a really rough Ollie 70 right down the road from me. Guy wants $550. Really rough.
brahamfireman
My dad's owned a 77 since 1967 or 68. It been worn out and rebuilt into a super 77, but still small 77 carb. Slowly getting repainted. It did 40 HP on the Prony brake last year. I just drove it today moving things in the yard, love the tractor, it'll never leave.
M35A2
Nothing wrong with Olivers. In the 2 square mile neighborhood I grew up in, nearly every farm, no matter if you were an IH farm or Deere farm, had at least one Oliver in regular use on it. Then there were the Oliver/White only farms, and a Ford farm that had a 1900 as its's big horse.

Farming Enthusiast
I found out this summer that the early 88 Row Crops had the yellow mesh grill like the previous series when I saw them on an auction. Boy I thought that was the best of both worlds. You get the looks of a 70 and power of an 88! They had two of them and a Super88D which is still my favorite for how smooth they run. I really would've liked to been able to bid on them but it's just not in the cards right now
Steve C.
Never ran an Ollie, but I think they had some pretty good features. Like a good tilt/telescope wheel, and the fender fuel tanks. Neighbor of mine back in the day ran an 1855 as his big horse. Seemed like a nice tractor but it was down a lot. I think they asked a lot of that 310. I always figured an 1850 with the Perkins would have been preferable.
460
Always like the sound of the Oliver 6 cylinders, love hearing them in the division 4 pulling classes. I could see myself owning a 88, super 88 or 880 if it was the price was right.
oldscoutdiesel
I've some Oliver's in the early series 77, 770,880 and found them to be versatile. But the brakes left a little to be desired. These were owned by different farmers 50 miles apart, so it wasn't a local thing. The 1650, 1755, 1850 had better brakes and the 2 or 3 speed aux transmission was very useful. Ihcubguy
My uncles farm our M and H came from had an 88 gas. I've been looking for one for years. Found one close but the guy hasn't returned an answer to me since I looked at it 3 weeks ago.
acem
When I was a kid the closest tractor dealer was Oliver then white so there were a lot of Oliver tractors round here. Of course most were small tractors for cattle farms. There were a few row crops and they were well liked. A local winery was very active and forward thinking. They bought a fwa Oliver row crop tractor for some reason I can't imagine. Oddly enough it was construction yellow. It looked similar to the pic below but yellow. I don't remember the number.
FoxrunFarms02
I was a die hard green guy...... after buying my M I feel like I've been rebaptized. I store my neighbors 88 and put it on display. It's a nice neat tractor and kind of think it was ahead of it's time. Every time I'm reading a jd vs ih debate an oliver has to get tossed in there. In my area there wasn't really any oiliver, mm, or ford dealers in the area so they're not seen much. There's no problem having a rainbow fleet of tractors. As much as all of us friendly trash talk each other Everything does break down and it comes down to what makes us happy and the reasons why we buy a certain model.
885
I've always wanted one of the Oliver's with the Detroit diesel like a 1900 or a 1955
cumminstinkerer
I am a Case guy, bash away, but love the red too, I also own a 1650 with the over/under hydral shift, very nice tractor, I wish it didn't have the Waukesha gas in it, to expensive to rebuild, I really would like to find a G1355 either in green or yellow.
nepoweshiekfarmalls
I would like to own a 1655 Cockshutt. Oliver styling, but the red and white colors I enjoy.
KWRB
I always liked Oliver as a kid, because it looked like they painted them like I (a kid) would have painted them, with lots of different colors, not like IH or JD. I also like Minneapolis Moline, because it sounded to be like a cowboy's girlfriend's name or something, and I liked the colors. Truth be told, I like IH all around, because it was the tractor I grew up with, but generally, I'm not a fan of the color. Again, in my mind tractors "should" be red to an extent, because that's how I'm conditioned, but those others were nicer looking to young me.
