Pete1468 Posted September 8 Share Posted September 8 Last fall I sold my 2388 and bought a 9120 that's in pretty good shape. So I'm new to the flagships and wow is there allot that I'm not familiar with. Tonight's project is change the engine oil. I'm thinking I should have my 14 year old son run it as h he's more computer savvy then I am. I like the idea of a bigger machine as I can get more done in less hours I have to run. Beens I had to get a different corn head I opted for a 12 row head. I've got 2 1,000 bushel grain carts to keep the corn away from this monster. I agree with jass1660, get familiar with the monitor, and if you don’t have good dealer support, anything you need you should be able to find on YouTube. SDman Posted September 9 Share Posted September 9 9120s were/still are good machines. 13L engine with no DEF. Autosteer? Would advise you to check your fan hub on the engine. If its the style with the snap ring holding the entire fan onto the fan hub, I would advise you to update it with the style that used a bolt/washer to hold it on. SDman Posted September 9 Share Posted September 9 Autosteer operation on 20 series depended on software version. If yours is all updated, it should work as follows: 1. Push the rocker switch for autosteer a couple seconds...you should hear a beep acknowledging your press....that turns the autosteer system on. 2. Somewhere on your Pro600 you should have a spot for guidance engagement...it should give you a message "move wheel", prompting you to move the steering wheel. There's a sensor at the bottom of the steering column that needs to see movement of the steering wheel...verifies that an operator is present. Once it sees steering wheel movement...you're ready to go. Now, during field operation, you should be able to use the "resume" button to raise/lower the header, and then double-tap the "shift" button on the backside of the MFH lever to engage the autosteer system. Dad went from the 25 to the 71 and likes it. I run the 25. Both are good machines. Having met SDman at RPRU this summer and reading about his knowledge here on the forum in past years I’d say he’s a great resource for help on running Axial-Flow machines if you have one. The machine is basically the same, but easier to use, the monitor is a little more intense, but with dealer support and YouTube videos it’s not bad getting used to it. Pete1468 Posted September 10 Author Share Posted September 10 I was having difficulties with the bean head Friday so I stopped at the dealer and they came down Saturday morning. I learned more in the hour or so that he was here then I did reading the book. Like the gearbox in the rear of the motor didn't show oil on the dipstick. He said yeah, here's the truck remove the dipstick and let sit for 30 seconds then check it. It was right on full mark, must trap air in the tube and not let oil on the stick. The graph on the monitor to check sensors is nice if figure it out. SDman Posted September 10 Share Posted September 10 Absolutely correct about the PTO gearbox as far as checking the oil. A couple other things about the gearbox in reference to checking oil. First thing, there is a breather/vent for the gearbox.....should be right underneath the muffler on a 9120.....keep that clean or replace it...its a common breather used on many CNH applications. Second thing, wait at least 15 minutes after you shut the machine off before you check the dipstick. It takes awhile to let all the oil in that gearbox return to the sump. While you are playing around with that thing.....MAKE SURE it comes out of PARK EVERY TIME you use the rocker switch. The touch pad circuit board on those old cab combines can fail.....leaving you unable to get it out of park at the most inopportune time. You should have no problem getting familiar with your combine then. There are a lot of settings in that monitor that you wouldn’t think though!
