FoxrunFarms02
Maybe this was brought up before, before I joined but I thought it'd be interesting to see what we all do for fun or to relax. I work full time but enjoy playing around on my 7 acre hobby farm with either older equipment or the atvs. If I know how to fix something I enjoy wrenching on stuff, re painting old equipment, or building something. even though I've been recovering from a traumatic work related accident and couldn't enjoy it the last few years I enjoy being out in nature hiking, and hunting. ever since I was little I really enjoyed building 1/64 scale model farms. I started getting into photography. In high school I took a video editing class where we made psa's for the local news station and learned about camera angles and lighting. I guess it just stuck with me. I enjoy helping my larger neighbors out. I might not be able to farm full time but it gives me a chance to play farmer. most important I enjoy spending time with the family. I'm guilty of not doing it as much as I should but I'm learning and trying.
Sledgehammer
Outside of a full time job I stay busy maintaining stuff around the house/farm. In the fall and winter I hunt every chance I get. Otherwise I like to move hot metal with a hammer.

Cartridge collecting, Stover gas engines, Tractors, Gardening, Firewood gathering and processing, Single shot rifles, Handloading and casting bullets! Over 70 years of all this stuff and shifting gears every so often! Now my latest interest is 7.25 scale railroads! Yikes!!!!!
IHandJDman
Farming and running equipment are my main hobbies. It was nice to find a hobby that pays for itself, even if I stress like my livelihood depends on it. I still am into firearms but I just don't take the time to shoot like I should. Also, with the family we like to go on drives and see new local places.

FoxrunFarms02
Just now, 766 Man said: I wish that I had the space to build models of farmsteads. Most of mine are 4x2 and built when I was living in an apartment with limited space. One display was 2x2. I like building smaller displays and adding eye catching details, like birds, cats, dogs, scrap piles ect stuff people over look when building a huge display. At shows I tell people that you don't need a huge display. Most displays are 8x8 but have a lot of wasted space. A lot I see is a 4x8 area of dirt with 15 tractors in it and then a 4x8 green rug. You can build a section of a farm, some bins, a shop and some bins instead of a whole farm. I even made a few desk top displays for my dad that were little 4inch x 4inch field scenes. MacAR
I work full time, so the farm would be considered a hobby by most but as much work as I seem to put into it, it's more like a second job. I enjoy hunting large and small game, especially quail and squirrel. Been reloading most of my own ammo for a while now and collecting old Winchester rifles and shotguns among other fine firearms also. Have an ongoing bamboo fly rod project that I work on about 10 hours a year and still haven't finished, and also thinking about getting into fly tying. Have accumulated quite a bit of old "antique" farm junk as well and like restoring and using it when I can, especially my ax collection and my several different wheel hoes and hand seeders. Can't forget a touch of blacksmithing when things are slow in the winter, but nowhere near the level of @Sledgehammer abilities. Oh, and two meetings of the Masonic lodge each month where I serve as Secretary. Obviously I don't lack for something to do! Mac

Yes I built it myself. Over two years I collected parts I figured I'd needed and then in six weeks evenings and Saturdays I got it together. Two things I found out years later is that a belt drive is not good in the brush! It was a belt like a timing belt but much heavier duty. So I changed to a #100 chain. Secondly I didn't know that F12 rearends came in six different gear combinations! Needless to say I have two that are only compatible in second gear which is okay for me because I only use it in four wheel drive when I need it. At the time I built it 1996 it cost only $4000. Engine rebuilt new hyds. new tires and winch. I finally came up with a name for it FARMALLIS. Up until last year we skidded 10-15 cord of wood out with it. Now I've gotten too unsteady on my feet in the woods to be safe so we'll be selling it. 3

Just upgraded the shock, rear end bracket/shock mount and new AMPro front control arms. All the weak points I had in the 90's have been corrected. The boat is nuts with the brushless motor, it now needs trim tabs to keep it from coming out of the water. Can't believe how small the electrics are today compared to the 90's.

I wanted a Tamiya Lunchbox but I stead got the Clod Buster. So glad I did as it's such an icon of the hobby. And yes the electronics today are so much more compact and nicer. Lipo makes the run time more enjoyable as well. Found a pic of my clod with the other 2. The original body broke within a month or 2 of bashing when it was new and its wore that Bigfoot body since then. So basically the whole time I've owned it. Crazy how big the X Maxx is in comparison when the Clod was big in that time. If I had the funds I'd go bigger yet and buy a Primal Raminator
