CaseIH dealership accident this week.

Young man from Sleepy Eye, MN lost his life at the dealership (Miller Sellner) in a workplace accident this week on Tuesday I believe. He leaves behind his high school sweet heart wife, and a young child that I think is around 1 yr old. They haven’t released any details yet. Keep his family in your prayers, and remember, we never know when the day comes that we will take our last breath. Hug your loved ones a little tighter and make the most of every day!

I happened to be in that area picking a parts car yesterday. The guy I picked the car up at said the young fellow was only 27. He heard the young man was replacing the pivot pins in 4WD and what ever was holding one end up gave way and crushed him between the two halves. Keep his family in your prayers.

Brought back memories of 1990 or 1991. A mechanic in the shop had a L785 skidloader sitting precariously on 4 jack stands, wheels off working underneath it. Slipped off the stands and landed on him. Broke his neck and a bunch of ribs and right arm. But he lived. He ended up by us in parts for awhile when recovering. It can happen so fast.

Amazing how fast things can go from good to bad! A small local concrete company just lost an employee this week.  They were going to move an old wash plant, and instead of bringing in a boom truck to pull the hopper off, they thought they could get it with the loader.  I’m not sure exactly what happened, but as the hopper was being lifted off, something went wrong, there’s been talk of a pin falling out, or being pulled out of some piece that shouldn’t have been pulled, or fallen out, but as the pin came out some part shifted and crushed a 45 year old.  Sad deal!

There was a 20 year old electrician killed last week at a local BTO’s grain handling facility here. He was shocked and fell some distance because of the shock. He died at the scene. It was a tough deal. You just never know.

There was something like that that happened around here 2 years ago.

Local Elevator was putting in a new bin, Wet tank, dryer, and support system to all that. Couple of guys were on a telescoping man lift. The lift had a problem that suddenly sent it surging forward. Got mixed up in the high voltage power lines. One guy jumped from the lift from above 20 or 25 ft. Broke both legs but survived. Other guy caught the power lines with his forehead. Took him to the hospital on life support. Next day they pulled the life support because all the brain scans showed no activity. He passed leaving a Fiance and a 8 month old.

Why I always question people buying old used man lifts for odd jobs.  Would you want to trust your life high in the air to a 20 yr old rigged up POS?  Call the rental place and get one for the day that is almost new.....

Honestly it was fairly new. Im not sure if the bin building company owned it or they were renting it. But from what I remember being there it wasn't clapped out junk and I had been there about 4 days before the accident.

Things go wrong real quick. You just never know. you can take every safety precaution and it just might still go wrong. Take care and be safe out there.

I wouldnt have guessed it was being a legitimate jobsite, but it just jogged my memory seeing some of these sitting around farms that got picked up cheap.
