FFA
What is a brighter bulb option that will fit in the factory headlight housing? Also we upgraded our IH 1100 sickle mower with NH double forged guards , what bolt size and type do we need to use with these guards? We have tried a few different options and none seem to be right. That doesn't compute for me. What do you mean "doesn't fit right"? Parts book lists a 7/16"x 1 5/8" plow bolt for the 1100 and a 7/16" x 1.75" plow bolt for double guards on 451 mowers. I would think that the 1.75" bolt ought to work just fine? Mac

Unless I'm just loosing what's left of my mind, I'm 99% sure that IH and Ford/NH guards will interchange. I know the sickle sections will. It's John Deere that the guards are "odd" sized I think. He's asking about bolts not fitting right and I can't wrap my head around that for some reason. I can't see any reason in the world a 7/16" x 1 3/4" plow bolt won't work. Might have to go up to 2" on the hold-downs, but still should work as far as shank size and head type. Hence my confusion. Mac

I also would upgrade the lights to LED. You can get lights that look like the original, something like this: https://www.triplertractors.com/led-tractor-lighting.html
Lazy WP
The guard bolts are 7/16. I think they are 1 1/2 long for the hold down? I can measure some when I get home. You don’t want to use a typical carriage bolt. Get actual guard bolts.
cedar farm
New Holland used a 7/16 carriage type bolt. It's actually a grade 5 the New Holland called a short square head bolt. A regular carriage bolt is only grade 2 and not hold up.

Not on true double hard swather guards.

The measurements I quoted in my earlier post come directly from the IH and New Holland parts catalogs, courtesy of Messicks. There are some carriage bolts listed as well, but the double guards call for 7/16" plow bolts as @Lazy WP said. Mac

I assume your talking about the headlight buckets on the side of the fuel tank? As far as I know, no LED replacement for those big lights. On edit, I stand corrected. I see Triple R has the 5&3/4 lights for 560, 706, 806 fuel tank lights in LED. But it appears their sight isn't working right and I can't add them to the cart. Not cheap either!!!! The mowers used plow bolts. I've been out of the dealer since jan 2008. My memory is fading.

TN Hillbilly
I run NH 218 double guards on all 3 of my IH balanced head mowers. I use plow bolts in them. 7/16s sounds right but I'd have to pull one out and see. I usually just buy a few new ones that fit whenever I buy guards.
