acem
They are replacing 'Silver Bridge' over the Mulberry River in my part of the world. We don't have covered bridges but these 'silver Bridges' were still common when I was a kid 50 years ago. This is one of the few 100 year old bridges left. It will be replaced with a modern bridge but the nearby town of Mulberry is placing it in their city park. Many great memories were made in the great swimming hole at the bridge.

sandhiller
Looks a lot like the bridges we have over the Niobrara only ours are single span Do you have a pic of the builder's name plate? I think ours say The Canton Bridge Co 1916
Reichow7120
In Branch County near where my Mom’s cousin's live there is there is a bridge like that over the St Joseph River near Union City Mi. Closed it down about 3 or 4 years ago so you can only walk across it. I doubt with the amount of traffic on that rd they will ever replace it. Can't hardly replace the bridges on the main roads around here much less the side ones

My road is the main shortcut between Albion and Concord Mi. It was like a mini state highway at times. This past June there is a bridge over the Kalamazoo river that was built in the late 20s that apparently was falling apart. Well it really must have started falling apart because they closed it abruptly. Main rd like that you would think they could come up with the money and a time table to replace it. No money so the quickest it will be replaced is 2 to 5 years from now. Main rd and its a pita to get around to get to Concord from my house. Dirt_Floor_Poor
A tube collapsed on a gravel road here and the road was closed for almost two years because they claimed they didn’t have the money to fix it. Not a bridge, just a large tube. You get off the main road and there’s not much “investment” going on unless they are putting in a sub division. WishIhada1466
We don't even get bridges on county roads in our area. Just concrete poured in the bottom of the creek. When it rains much you have to plan accordingly.

lotsaIHCs
We had a metal bridge spanning the Missouri River at Bismarck, ND that was demolished and replaced several years ago. Now the BNSF railroad is replacing the metal RR bridge that was almost a twin to the car bridge. Kinda hate to see both of them gone. The RR bridge demolition is being considered in the state supreme court as some are trying to have it preserved. Rail bridge is in color and auto bridge is black and white.
td9bcf180
They just removed this bridge in my area last week and are replacing it with a new one. It has been in this location for 69 years and was moved here from another location where it was installed in 1917. It was 106 years old. 107 foot span. Steel riveted pony truss fabrication.
barkerwc4362
There's one of them across the Pea river near our hunting lease. It has been closed for many years. Structure is still there, but all the planking is gone and the approaches to the bridges have been removed.
