vtfireman85
The Power Wagon hasn’t been on the road since 2016, and last time it was out was probably 5 years ago, I bypassed the rusty fuel tank, filled the points, bled the brakes and put a new battery in, away she went. The blue CJ2a is ours too. That gorgeous Green PW belongs to a semi local guy and has quite the write up in Hemmings. https://www.hemmings.com/stories/restoration-1956-dodge-power-wagon/ 20
vtfireman85
I just found another couple pictures that i took, i am mostly into trucks, tractors etc, not much interest in brutalized muscle cars or hot rods.
vtfireman85
Another note of interest is that this location was the IH dealership until the late 70’s

IHKeith
The location is pretty cool, the IH history is neat too. I was unaware that you had this Power Wagon, what a beast!!! What is it's story? Has it been equipped with the bed and rear winch since new? It looks like it doesn't have split rims and has a 2" receiver hitch, some "modern" updates, looks well put together. Very cool!!! It was badly battered but had no cancer. It has bren dormant for so long mostly because it needed a windshield, which until recently was not being reproduced. We finally got one to the tune of $1200. The rear winch was added by someone, based on the linkages i will presume it was military, everything was Olive Green. It is a Mead-Morrison 3MB, and i have never found much information on it. The Gar-Wood company made winches for military and went on to make garbage trucks and coal blades among other things. It had a second capstan on the right side as well. Its still around somewhere but was removed to clear the bed. The bed my dad built in the late 80’s it dumps with the winch, and has a telescopic strut that comes down at a steep angle, hook the winch cable on and wind it in to dump. He did the running boards around the same time. The truck had a rudimentary Dupont overhaul in 95’ and a rebuilt engine in 2005’ after spinning a rod bearing. It needs a gas tank, the one behind the seat was missing when he got it, and he built an 8 gallon tank out a piece of 12”1/4” square tubing. It’s rusting inside badly and is causing fuel issues, so for the moment it is running on a boat tank.

ny bill o
I remember the farmer next door saying when he married the farmer's daughter and came here to live about 1955, the farm had a Power Wagon and an F12 Farmall for mechanical power. Now there's a combination!
lorenzo
Back in the 80’s there was a race track in North Lincoln called Midwest speedway. I drove a wrecker for Carr service that was an old power wagon. We also had two tilt flat beds that we primarily used because the old power wagon took too much time to actually get a wreck cleaned up and back to racing. I only got to use it to flip the sprint cars back on their wheels. It had a very low granny gear that was so slow at intermission i would go past the grand stands standing on the front fender waving at the crowd. They loved that old truck and so did I.

Glass isn’t the issue, the windshield frame was, they have a seam about halfway down each A post and the middle divider also fills with water. Rots the frame out and most of the used ones you find are Swiss cheese. Before finding this new one I was planning a sand blast/fiberglass/die grinder attempt at repairing the old one. ray54
Garwood built dozer blades and scrapers for Allis Chalmers. About 1960 sold that part of the business to AC. Then Garwood concentrated on the garbage compactor truck bodies. Have never read about the coal equipment, so no idea what happened to it. Garfield Wood was a unique person Started Wood Hoist Co and made boats latter, was the 1st person to go faster then 100MPH on the water. They made a lot of stuff including Buckeye Bucket Wheel Ditchers

int 504
Made boats called Garwood. Mead Morrison was a division of Garwood by 1940. That style of winch was found on trucks that moved artillery. The Dodges had front winches rated around 7500 lb pull that 3MB is liable to be considerably more as they were found on fairly large 6x6's.
