This machine and it’s twin (almost) had 6x16’s behind it. DT407. Very nicely done and the owner said it would pull that plow in any gear. Nice people to chat with. Gentleman was a former IH mechanic he said.3B43D2AE-E707-49F9-936D-C3FF5D255836.thumb.jpeg.8292dc15eda37760c2142b24a20e52a2.jpeg

A freshly painted early 1466 belongs to @billonthefarm  It looks just as nice in person as in the pictures.  We had a nice visit and it was a pleasure meeting you.

Getting into a few plow pics. There were so many people here that it was impossible to get a good picture of an entire machine. Buggies were getting stuck in the furrow.  I watched a $30-40k side by side get stuck because the owner wasn’t smart enough to put it in 4x4. About 6 guys pushed it out of the way while the plows had to stop.  Another plow operator got his machine shut down as the depth wheel on the side of the plow came to rear against the front of a side by side hat would not move.

Just my $.02———There needs to be a rule keeping all buggies and carts out of the fields while field work is being done. Park in the grass and walk into the fields. There aren’t enough field marshals to accomplish the policing of this (not their fault)

Good to see the Versatile 145 get its time to shine.  I'll argue behind the Wagner the original 4 wheel drive tractor, the 145 was the most influential 4 wheel drive tractor made.

It was great to talk with you and thanks for the kind words.  So many people to talk too and so much iron to look at.  Its a good time.  Its raining at the hotel in champaign now but looks like Rantoul will miss the showers.

Going to stop for a second. I brought my 6 year old with me to the show. When I got here I talked to Nelson the owner of IHGear.  He had the pretty COE parked out front and asked my son if he would like to blow the air horn on it. Today we stopped by to say hi and Nelson tells us to stick around a few minutes. Unbeknownst to me, he called the owner over and had the owner take my boy for a cruise around the grounds down the runway. To say he loved it would be an understatement. Nelson is a good person and his merchandise is good quality. A real guy you would want for a neighbor.  I can’t say what it means to have such good people around at these events.

That certainly looks like a lot of people and buggies to be observing plowing that close.

Thats awesome! About the same experience for me when @DirtBoyz07 asked if I wanted to drive the 5388 at RPRU. I got a cup, shirt, and hat from IH Gear. Great people for sure!

Some vintage pullers tonight. Not sure about the steel wheel 830. He was just a random guy that didn’t fit in really.

What's the story on that one Allis tractor, looks like a swelled-up D19?  Is it a D21 with custom sheetmetal to look like a D19's big brother?

Came across some info about it the other night, while searching D21 stuff.

I believe it is a replica of the early D21 prototype. I think that styling got canned early and then went to current styling.

What’s the deal with the green Quad Track? Is it just a red one that has been repainted or something special?

I believe that was one of a bunch done by a dealer in east central Iowa (Schminke?).  From what I heard, CaseIH was quite PO’d about the deal.  They did Steiger green, they did a couple in breast cancer pink, and probably some others that I’m forgetting.

The pic of the rear tire drive thing was real unusual! Hard on the gears and rough running with that style tread I would think.

Looks like good attendance is both a blessing and a curse. The plowing looks like way too many folks too close to the action. I get everyone wants to see. I would too. But it looks and sounds like it could get to the point of a safety concern..

Pretty cool that little man got a truck ride! He will remember that for a while I bet!

I will say that I love this show for the variety but I will say in my opinion and in the opinion of MANY others, the pulls are not handled well. They allow all the buggies up against the fence in front of the bleachers so it’s hard for those in the stands to see. The opposite side of the track is trailer parking so people cannot watch from there. Sleds are great, variety is great, setup is lacking for the pulls.
