Got two male Aussies, one is seven years old and fixed than we have a three year old that's not fixed. They are 60 percent indoor dogs. The younger dog is always marking territory and always marking the 16 year old daughters bed. Has anyone had something similar happen that getting the younger one fixed calmed him down? I think he's a great protective dog around strangers so I want him around wife is fed up with him.

Unfortunately every dog that I’ve had or was around kept doing it. Once they have started they seem hard to break the habit.

I believe there is a product in a spray that will stop that (sorry I don't remember the name now). spray at daughters door and where he is marking. He should go on by the door when he gets a whiff of the spray. Is there a way he can stay outside for a day or so , maybe even a week to try to break habit? Just a thought. Good luck. Pembroke

An enzymatic type cleaner is going to be needed, if he has marked on the mattress, box spring etc it is probably going to need to be replaced, and the whole room is going to need a full scour down. get him fixed and keep her door shut any time he has access, removing the smell, changing the situation and removing the balls may shake up the situation enough to stop him doing it.

I have had a male dogs, and grew up around three male dogs, never had one that “marked” anything Inside.
I have a puppy that pees by the door sometimes,  -but he’s a puppy.

My parents first dog together they got because the first owners had a baby and he was marking everything the baby touched. They were afraid it would lead to aggression, reality is that the baby couldn’t have been safer. He came at 2 1/2 and never marked in the house ever, nor did any of the 4 that came after him.

I’ve got new pics for that.  My Grandson Trenton just turned two months old. EE07E935-AE05-4E3A-85BF-B818719FC0B4.thumb.jpeg.44d72ca3d1f3bec44d9ace8e23ba04e6.jpeg73214CFA-034F-4DBC-A14E-081B59B084C7.thumb.jpeg.3442fcf53733e4691bdca2d0f7c4a8e5.jpeg

i woudl start with getting him neutered that changed our dog in a lot of ways, but like earlier stated getting rid of the old habit evidence/smell its going to be hard to stop. The mattress and bed frame/carpert etc.... might need to go

Desmond had a marking problem, mainly due to the fact that I have at present 14 beagles. I neutered him last fall and it has really helped and he is quieter and lovely to have around.
