Picked this up at the Tri-Five National's today. Needs work but he can't drive for a year and a half ,maybe some de-tuning is in order also. Will do him good to spend some time in the shop. Needs a cowboy hat. How many Asians have you seen driving a 4 speed 57 chevy in a cowboy hat. "I ain't nobody dork"( From American Graffiti Movie)

That is a sweet first car for sure. Slick that hair back and get him a leather jacket. Maybe roll a small pack of candy smokes up in his sleeve? Toothpick and a set of aviator glasses. Arm out the window, he’ll be set. 😎

Yes, everyone who sees the oldest's car first thing they say is you must really pick up a lot of girls with that . His answer is always "no but I pick up their dads "

Think that combo has been covered in one of the parades on this channel.

Mooned

Hope Second Son has fun with that one!

My first "real" car, I bought after graduating high school. Before that, I was driving hand me downs. So I bought a 1956 Chevy 1/2 ton short box, originally a 265 V8 but had a 283 in it. That was in 1987 and I still have it, although it now has a 350/TH 350, Fatman front suspension and tilt wheel. Don't drive it as much as I used to because I have a new aluminum radiator, electric cooling fan and new power brakes and dual master cylinder to install. Working on getting a new hvac system and Dakota Digital instrument cluster. Always something, but really a rewarding experience to make an old one your own through hard work. Looks like both of  your young men will have great car memories. I'm glad I never sold my old 56.

Here's some guitars. All pictured were painted by the oldest. Hard to tell in the pictures but most have some kind of lace or metal flake paint job. All the electric guitars were purchased as kits and put together by him. The aluminum one was built from a 1/8 inch sheet of aluminum and a 2×12 body with the turning done with a wire cup brush in a drill. The neck was purchased off the internet. Both play but I think the oldest gets more enjoyment out of building them.

Awesome car!!!  Good for him!!  Those 55-57 Chevys are always cool.

My friend has a 56 Chevy 210 sedan, not his first car but the nicest, fastest one he has built yet.  It’s on a 1990 Caprice frame with a 2001 Chevy 2500 complete wiring harness, 6L engine and 4L80 transmission. Has a 10 bolt 8.5 posi differential with 3.73 gears.  It’s a good performer. These pictures are from when I put new exhaust on it last year, the previous system I made had damage from a driveshaft failure and he wanted cutouts.

I love SG's. And I see his is the ONLY acceptable color for an SG, too. They are really sharp. I assume they play well, even though they're home built?
