Aftermarket brake actuators

MCC

Recommended Posts

I need an actuator for a 656.  I see you can get aftermarket units for a decent price.  I am wondering if anyone has experience using these and how well they work or if they’re offshore garbage.

TIA,

Dan

@MCC who has them for sale? I worked in the aftermarket tractor parts world for a few years, I can probably tell you what the quality is if you tell me whos selling them.

I see them for sale rnging from $90 to $270.  I figured they were all the same, maybe not.  Vendors I saw were Complete tractor, Tractor Joes, Abilene, Bates and tractor parts asap.

Better than no brake at all

Your actuator broken ?

My actuator halves aren't parallel.  Causes brakes to drag and start burning up after a 15 mile drive.  If I loosen them enough to not drag at all, there isn't any brake action.  The problem follows the actuator as I switch parts from side to side.  I figured I would price a new one if the quality is fine to taking my existing one to a machine shop and having it ground flat.  For all I know, the one I have may be aftermarket.

@MCC most all the companies you listed will get them all from same supplier, more than likely Tisco, but Possibly Atlantic, all are imported and may work great or may not, depends on the fellow from India or Pakistan that was doing the work that day, it is a crap shoot for sure!

@acem I heard that, I think atlantic is also owned by the same group that owns ASAP now, I might have some inside scoop there! there is also sparex and reliable, all them just swap stuff around, one group imports a bunch, sells to the others and they repack it, some stuff is limited to one company though.
