N.h. 8970 quit moving

Recommended Posts

Looking at buying a n.h. 8970 and found one that needs some work. Guy said was using it this spring in the field when it suddenly quit moving all together. Engine still runs, hydraulic all work, pto, steering, lift. It has no codes, and just doesn't move at all forward or reverse.

We had a 8770A for not long and the exact same thing happened when I was baling. Ended up there was a solder that cracked in one of the controllers behind the seat. Fixed it and was back up and running. But to get a new controller through NH was over $2000 about 15 years ago. If I recall right there was no codes or anything, I just downshifted a couple gears then stopped to tie and it wouldn't move again. Display showed it was in gear and would go up and down but no movement with the tractor

New development is he said the tractor displays the direction and gear selection. If you try to drive it or take off, then it will make the wheels jump, but will not move. He talked about maybe there was a collar that was sheared off that needed to be replaced.
