acem
My wife had ants move into an electric fence Energizer. She set it on the hood of the truck to kill them. It worked. As they came out and got on the hood it cooked them! The sun heated the hood. It hasn't been started in days. all the ants died. The local sheriffs department was conducting an intensive manhunt last week. They had EMS come out and administer IV fluids to the workers to keep them going. Our sheriff is a retired Green Berets. gung ho, strict discipline and sometimes unconventional. He's a great guy.

yellowrosefarm
Calling for 101 here today. Not really that unusual for us this time of year. Humidity is down which makes it easier to tolerate. A few years ago I had 2 pictures of my back porch thermometer seven months apart. One at 0 and one at 100.

mike newman
...with the snow on the tops and the wind howling down the Wairau Valley, the efficient heater in the new Excavator is great...... It has to be said though, there is not the snow up on the mountains that there normally is.......Frosts are not bad, but good enough to freeze the brakes in the Hi-lux ute, after crossing the river, coming back from work in the early evening...but you blokes in Bidenville. may be getting hot under the collar at the moment.....but the winters over there make our cool days, pale in comparison...!! certainly at the top of the South Island where I live....600 miles further south , things can ...and do...get pretty darn cold... Steve C.
I'd never heard about this, but sure makes sense that this could be the reason for this particular hot season. Ready to learn something? Let’s meet the historic, record-shattering Hunga Tonga volcanic eruption of 2022, which I bet you never heard of. The short version is an underwater Pacific Ocean volcano named Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai, 490 feet under the waves, massively erupted, bigger than any other modern eruption, even bigger than Mount Pinatubo. You never heard about it since it was underwater and nobody died. But the erupting lava instantly vaporized fantastic, unimaginable amounts of sea water, which billowed into the atmosphere, changing the water composition of Earth’s atmosphere and heating it up for years. In only a few days, the superheated water from the Hunga Tonga eruption blanketed the globe, pole to pole, East to West. The eruption was so big it could be clearly seen from space. https://www.coffeeandcovid.com/p/overheated-friday-july-28-2023-c?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email 1
Lazy WP
It was 108 according to the Weather Channel, the house said 114. Humid enough for the fireflies to be out.
MacAR
It's been so cockeyed hot here, I've not been able to do much between 11 and 7 every day. Gonna be up near 100 here tomorrow, besides the humidity, and no rain in sight. I've got a fair bit of work needs doing in the morning too. Good thing I got the air fixed in the farm truck this evening! Mac

Steve C.
More on that volcano that blew last year. Amazing that no one knew about it, huh? You'd a thought it might have made the news. The power of a volcanic eruption: This one was bigger than any U.S. nuclear blast A new study estimated the Tonga volcanic explosion was 15 megatons, equivalent to 15 million tons of TNT The Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haʻapai undersea volcano eruption in 2022 was larger than any natural explosion in the past century or even any U.S. nuclear explosion, according to a study released Friday in Science Advances. It rivals the massive Krakatau volcanic explosion near Indonesia in 1883 that took more than 36,000 lives, though the Tongan volcanic explosion in the southwest Pacific caused four deaths. https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2023/04/14/tonga-volcano-explosion-destruction-study/

Ian Beale
Willis E has a look “The IPCC Says No Climate Crisis” “Give up? So would I. What these phenomena have in common is that the IPCC says that there is no significant evidence that these phenomena have changed (either increased or decreased) in the “historical period”. In other words, there’s no evidence that “global warming” has changed the strength or frequency of those weather phenomena.” More at https://wattsupwiththat.com/2023/07/30/the-ipcc-says-no-climate-crisis/ And comments
