Dirt_Floor_Poor
I thought most, if not all, machines that have a reverser do not actually have a reverse? Someone probably knows more.

attaboy
so if i understand you correctly, there is nothing wrong with the way it works?
louie figone
Do you know which transmission you have, there were several options.
Coyote Crossing
My 500 has a 5 speed with a reverser. There is no reverse in the transmission. So I have 5 speeds forward and reverse and I never use 4th or 5th gear (I like my teeth and my back). I put it in the gear I want then use the reverser. I don't understand, in your first post you said you only have reverse in 1st gear, now you say you put it in the gear you want and then you use the reverser? Do all forward gears work? If it's similar to the T340 fast reverser it would be a planetary reverser mounted in front of the transmission. If it is a planetary type reverser and it works in 1st gear it should work in all the gears. Can you post some pictures of the cockpit of the tractor showing the reverser lever and also of the gearshift selector? We will try to help you out. Coyote Crossing
Attaboy, to clarify my last post. There is no reverse gear in the transmission although the gear shifter pattern on the floor shows a place for one. You should be able to put it in any gear and pull the reverser lever back for reverse. I do not recommend using 4th or 5th gear in reverse. You do not have a clutch. The left foot pedal only stops power to rear. Neutral on the reverser is like pushing in a clutch. In the photo the reverser is the long black lever on the left. The gear shift is the short black lever in the middle. The long yellow lever on the fender is the winch control.
attaboy
i will try and post a pic. yes it will go in reverse in all forward gears, when using the reverser. and yes there is a reverse position on the trans, but nothing works there. it is a 5 speed trans. not been able to fully try it too much forward and reverse, i need to keep my foot on the clutch pedal because the tracks are so bad they tend to climb the sprocket, and things get jammed up real quick. how ever i just managed to get a set of tracks, so once i get them on i can move it a lot better. thanks.
