1566man
Are there any mounts or how do some of you mount your globes/receivers on top of your cabs and where/how do you route your wiring harness for it. This will be for an Ag Leader 7500 receiver on a 5488. Thanks for any insights/replies.

My globe is magnetic, there's a small plug in the middle of the removable cap on the top of the cab that you might be able to fish wires through. Hole was too small for my globe plug so I had to cut it bigger and silicone shut. I took the right side visor and all the trim to the head liner off and fished wires into cab that way, down the rear post and behind the seat . All my ag leader wiring is coiled up under the seat. I then ran wires out the slot in the removable floor panel, on top of trans, then back into cab and up behind dash, monitor is currently just sitting on dash waiting for a holder. It wasn't fun, those cabs are NOT designed for running wires in and out very easily. I hate wires everywhere and spend days trying different things to keep it clean. acem
Magnetic mounts seem appropriate for the 66, 86 and 88 cabs since the roofs are steel. Could you run the wiring down the inside of a rops frame tube?

No, its pretty tight up top to get wires fished into the rops, and the bottoms are impossible to get to.
Wi Ih
I just finished this. I put the globe on the front of the cab and I ran the wire down the right side with the water lines then brought it back in by the step in cab and hose clamped to the cross post. superih
I ran the antenna wire across the cab then under the right hand corner post trim, then up through the hole in the right hand step. This is what I built for mounting everything, bolt more RAM mounts to it as needed. The T2 is mounted to this also.
IHandJDman
I used the magnet mount for the receiver on the cab of my 1086. Inside it's just a light bar so I ram mounted it to the dash tray. On the right side I zip tied the planter monitor to the front post. It works.

This looks very nice. I did the same thing. I hated to butcher up my step but I slotted it and put a grommet to where I can still use the step to access the battery. I have some ckt breakers and other things mounted under that door.
Jeff-C-IL
I have a tractor with a plastic roof. The dealer told me to use silicon caulk to glue a large washer on the cab roof. Just scuff up the plastic with some steel wool/scotch bright, clean well with electrical cleaner first. Use the magnet mount to stick the globe on once it dries. I was skeptical on how it would last. Its been 8+ years....the little sticky pads for zip-tieing the cable down the cornerpost all came loose - but the globe is just as solid as when I did it! I've got to set up another one at work for occasional GPS work (antenna will not be on it all the time). I just might try your idea here. acem
Don't use silicone to glue it to a metal roof. For some reason silicone gasket, caulk, whatever seems to rust steel.

GPS antenna base is magnetic...would not need to attach anything to the cab roof if it were metal. But still, duly noted about silicone and metal roofs rusting. acem
A friend has done auto glass for years. He says every windshield he replaces that has silicone used to stop a leak has rust around the silicone. We don't use road salt so rust on a car is unusual here.
