black cherry juice.

drink it till you can't stand the stuff

I assume it is in your feet. after the attack is over start wearing socks to bed.

the acid crystals go to the coldest parts of your body. warm feet, fewer problems.

don't eat processed meats

stay away from "flavorful" beers. straight pilsners give fewer problems. ( doctors say to avoid all alcohol, but we know that the need to produce grains that will ferment was what drove hunter-gatherers to form the first communities)

if this is your first time with it, you will swear that you will watch what you eat and drink, so this will never happen again.

I got it a few years ago, I always thought it was for fat guys.....NOT.

I bought an organic product that actually works. Goutrin,- you can order it from Amazon . It will tak 1-2 weeks to work . For those who have never had it it feels like an elephant stepped on your toe and the weight of bed sheets is uncomfortable/ a type of arthritis

I average about 2-3 flare ups a year.  Didn't start until my 42nd or 43rd birthday.....and it was triggered that night by beer.  Fried shrimp sets it off for me too,

And yeah, imagine someone taking a 4lb sledge hammer to your big toe.

Never had it thank goodness.  I hope you feel better Robert.

thanks but im asking for a friend 54, he woke up this morning, his big toe hurting and swollen, its gotten worse all day but of course he was on it working.

never had it before and has no clue what he did to aggravate it. Just woke up with it.

hes not a drinker or smoker so guess he needs to start something so he has an excuse for his ailments, i sometimes think the same

sounds like that is what he has for sure!!! maybe something at easter kicked it off

thanks for all the info will share with him about goutrin and cherry juice, heat also as it sounds like cold is a no no!!!

Tell him to soak his feet in a hot/warm Epsom salt foot tub. It seemed to help me a lot. I have no clue what brought it on, got it overnight, dealt with it about two weeks and it went away. Very weird, it does feel like a sledge hammer was dropped on your toe.

Friend of mine got it back 4 years ago after having steak dinner here at my house. He is a cattle farmer too so he takes a pill everyday. No more flare ups. I always tease him now and ask if he took his medicine before eating rich meat. 😬

He laughs. Then says yes

Yea, seems one day we all will get it, I had my onset last year.  I have been told eating dried cherries will help, I'm not sure why if it even helps, but man, that stuff hurts, your toe will swell like a balloon, hardly able to walk on it. Mine even got so bad, my toe is now bent inward, and I lost the nail. A year later and it's almost back to normal length for clipping it again 😁. Some say it's a vitamin deficiency, others, too much alcohol, who really knows. I say it's a sign we are getting older

Sounds like you've been there, done that.  I was wondering if you meant black cherry juice or tart cherry juice.  I've never had gout, but tart cherry juice has worked wonders for the arthritis in my hands (I take it in a concentrated capsule form now that I know that it works for me).  I've never tried black cherry juice but would try it.

There are 2 pills, both prescription -

Colchicine for periodic flare ups.  I was told to take it till you get the trots and then quit

Allopurinol is a take every day one - I'm on 2 tabs a day and rarely get a flare up.

allopurinol  generic for zyloprim prescription medication 300 mg daily.

if I drop this med in about 6 mths gout returns. Dr says there are few side effects and good benefit.

I know of nothing over the counter that works but aspirin does slowly relieve a lot of the pain.

No I am not awake at 0340 due to pain my son woke me up because the computer did not operate because win 11 added a package and we have automatic updates

I can ask my wife what he takes because she is his nurse, but i do know he has to draw blood from time to time. I also make fun of him for that because he hates needles. I said now wait a minute, we stand side by side with needles and syringes and give cattle hundreds of vaccinations a year and your good. The doc comes in with a little bitty needle you can barely see and you get all worked up....🤦‍♂️

Sorry im trailing off but i find it funny
