Fast hitches on big frame tractors

That is interesting that some of the 66’s had fast hitches. In my area of SE PA, the farm I worked on when I was younger was the only farm that had fast hitches on the big tractors (06’s and 56’s). Most of my other friends, some being JD fans, would always harass me about fast hitches. All of the attachments we used were fast hitch, and it was sure nice to have a fast hitch drawbar when hooking/unhooking trailing implements. Throw a block under the tongue, lower the hitch, and pull the pin. Didn’t have to mess with any jacks. I figured fast hitches on bigger tractors were kind of rare since none of the neighbors had them and of all the auctions I went to, I’ve never seen them, besides being on the 4 cylinder gas tractors like the 300, 350, 400, 450 and 560’s. That size seems to be common for fast hitches. One of the reasons I wanted the 1026 Hydro I just bought, was because it has a factory fast hitch.

Where from south east pa were you? I was born in Bucks county and moved after graduation from highschool

Was the 1206 the only cat 3 machine to receive the fast hitch?  Or did some 1256 or 1456 models receive fast hitch too?

The 1206 did NOT have fast hitch although it looks like it does.  That setup just allows the lower arms to slide out for hook up.

I was just reading my 806 operators manual and under 2 point/3 point, it states 1206, 1256, 1456, 3 point only.

So I can only assume 806 was the biggest tractor with a FACTORY installed fast hitch. Dealers could put them on anything.

This is the set up I was referring to.  Did any other models use it?

I believe part #14 was slightly different than a true fast hitch. It was only designed so the arms could extend out for easy of hook up.

I have used a fast hitch plow on my 1206 with this hitch.

Dad and i both had fast hitch 806's and they worked well with 6 row planters and cultivators. Dad purchased a new IH 642 roll over plow with the fast hitch prongs and NO WAY could you keep the prong bolts tight. When i purchased the 1066 i got pins for the plow and didn't use it long and called Worthington Salvage and paid $800 for a complete 3 point for the 856. Best move i ever made. Didn't have to tighten prong bolts every half day. One thing with a fast hitch it pulled from the belly of the tractor rather than the rump.  A fast hitch is ok on 560 and smaller tractors

Hmmm.  Fast hitch runs parallel with the tractor frame.  That hitch on a 1206 doesn’t.  If the 2pt hitch on the implement had some movement I suppose it could hook up and work.
