m610
Hi all, I registered so I could ask for help with a book I am nearly finished writing. It's about crop dusters from the '40s and '50s, centering on Harold Tacker from Corinth MS, but several others are in the story as well, in particular, Dave Harris, aka Booga. I found a post in this forum that talks about Dave. Link: https://www.redpowermagazine.com/forums/topic/89255-1960s-cropdusting-booga-bottom/ It seems some of the posters knew, or knew of Dave, and one poster was his grandson. I would really like to be able to talk to anyone who knew Dave or has more information on him. I don't need a lot, but a photo or two would certainly be nice. Dave is in the story in chapters dealing with crop dusters and their antics in Nicaragua. A link to the upcoming book is here: https://www.kstreetstudio.com/writing/bookBlueFiresAtDawn.html Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike P.S. If anyone happens to know anything about Pete Lindburgh, who worked for Cromac in McAllen, TX, I'd certainly appreciate that, too. P.P.S. By the way, the video referenced in that post is on Youtube, here: https://youtu.be/E0P2FU64p6s
Dirt_Floor_Poor
The man, @Delta Dirt, who started the discussion is no longer with us. The one who claimed he was his grandson hasn’t been on here since 2015. Maybe others have some information. Some who commented are still regular visitors.
twostepn2001
l remember DeltaDirt AKA Anson Sheldon when he posted that post about that crop duster. During that, another pilot that has also passed, Randy Sohn, commented that he knew "Booga". Anson and Randy told a story about a ag pilot that was a pretty good sized man. So much so that he had broken several chairs in the local cafe just sitting in them.. So the cafe owner got a wooden barrel and had it made into a chair for that particular pilot. Do you have any info on Marvin "Lefty" Gardner? He was another "old style" ag pilot. He was also one of the founders of the CAF, Commemorative Air Force, and was instrumental in getting the CAF B-29 Fifi airworthy again. There are "rumors" that Lefty and a Louisiana Cajun ag pilot went "south" to fly for some foreign entities.
jass1660
Did anyone ever find an obituary for Delta Dirt?
Doug in NY
Obituary | Anson J. "A J" Sheldon | Melby Funeral Home & Crematory (melbyfh.com) is this him?
twostepn2001
24 minutes ago, Doug in NY said: is this him? No, that isn't him. Anson aka Delta Dirt passed away last Oct. Plus he was a former Marine, not Army.

Cool1566
I’ve been away from the forum for awhile and did not know that he had passed away. Interesting guy for sure.
yellowrosefarm
I missed his passing as well. He grew up in the same community as my Dad, there in the MS delta, so he always felt like "home folks" to me.
