Where to get ih wester cab kit material?

Recommended Posts

On my 544 the canopy I want to put a headliner in it to reduce noise. The kits are like 200 bucks and just plain black. I wanted to find the raw material that is used for wester cab kits and just buy a role and cut it out to put under the canopy. If that's somthing that would work. I also thought about making a western cab interior for the 1456. Does anyone know where I can get just the non cut roles of the material?Screenshot_20230302_075118_Google.thumb.jpg.f03e53f357ffcbe6658a9ddff63613ff.jpg

Not trying to discourage you , but that will be pretty pricey material to put under there the dust and moisture will rot it pretty fast Not sure how well it would even work keeping the noise down even

I wonder if it would be more money... the Western cab kits for the 86 series are the same price as plain black.  Also, I thought that Old pickups with a headliner are quieter than plain steel ceiling. No? I never liked running a tractor with a canopy because of the added noise.

Installed a ROPS / canopy last year without the optional headliner kit because it wasn't how they were originally. It makes a lot of vibration noise but since I always use ear protection it's not a deal breaker. That aside, it would be good to have one with the headliner to avoid that vibration annoyance.

In this day and age I would not settle for a simple vinyl headliner for sound dampening. There are far better materials available for sound deadening and save the vinyl for decorative purposes.

As far as who sells the material, your best bet is going to be the company that makes the cab kits. They most likely get the material custom made for them so it's not like you're going to find it at the local JoAnn Fabrics.

When I painted the canopy top for the 826, I  used a product designed to spray in cars to deaden the sound. Kind of like undercoating on steroids.   Left a neat texture and can be painted as well.  I chose to leave it black to reduce glare.  Works well. Driven that tractor on several rides and the noise was not an issue.
